Monday? Triple dip? Are we still all in whatever we’re supposed to be in together? Monday Monday, chancellor Osbourne hasn’t a clue what do, wallpaper over it all and jump on the crazy train, we’re going off the rails. Monday things? Yeastie things? Ten things, Black things? Spring Things, no time for things, here’s George with the sport. The Ravens kept us up all night, people are barking about joining in at Cultivate, no time for things today, we going in to triple dip and Yeastie Girls is really about now rather than then….
That’s U.S Artist Logan Hicks at work….

ROSA MOTA were always one of the finest bands from back there, Camden in the 90’s, we covered them lots via the printed pages or pre-internet Organ but we could never ever get the words anywhere near right. Back then words mattered, it was mostly how you found out about bands (unless John Peel got on the case), the printed word was how you mostly found out if you didn’t catch the word of mouth. This 1994 session has just emerged on Soundcloud, I’d almost say it was their more fragile side, but even at their most robust and out there in your face, they were delicately fragile. This is them at their most beautifully restrained, and some sixteen or so years on it sounds so fresh We championed them at Organ, they played our gigs, there was a cover-mount 7″ single at one point, but we never ever got anywhere near getting it right….
“This is deserving of a few words i feel. (said Rosa Mota’s Ian Bishop). After a slightly subdued start with ‘are we having fun yet?” It wonders into awesome territory with one Sacha Galvagnas songs ‘New York hustler’. Which features some very nice authentic sounding bongos. Conga’s? Then with ‘Cold’ it really starts sounding good. Justin playing with brushes now. I love the vocals. Juliedrumsie plays the perfect foil and delivers some of the sweetest harmonies to different than the usual melodies. The instro-mental last track is so unexpected. From me at least. The ‘pseudo lo-Fi art fag trash.. whatever, is so cool. With some F’ing great bass chords being played throughout. Overall I was surprised at how familiar it felt and how much came back to me listening to this. A lot of ambient noise but that’s ok. We only recorded it on like, two, three mics….”
There aren’t many traces of ROSA MOTA on line, here;s an early video. Check out thier albums, Wishful Sinking (1995) produced by Robin Proper-Shepard + Bionic (1996) produced by Steve Albini. You can fine them on the (rather annoying) Spotify if all else fails…
And this is WHAT JULIA MADE today, Julia Maddison is an artist who’s work we are rather enjoying at the moment. The London based artists has three pieces in our current Back in Black group show of 23 artists that you can currently catch at Cultivate, Vyner Street, East London, this piece is not one of those three pieces, this is something Julia just posted on line
