Organ Preview: The summer edition of Mayfair Art Weekend is almost upon us again, always worth checking out, we trust there will be green balloons or some such thing to guide us to the participating galleries and art spaces of the West End
“This summer we celebrate the 10th edition of Mayfair Art Weekend. We are excited to present our new and expanded public and online programme to mark a decade of activity that annually highlights the best that London’s art scene has to offer! This year we have partnered with Art of London, The Royal Academy of Arts, The National Gallery and The National Portrait Gallery”
Not sure if it is quite “the best that London’s art scene has to offer”, it is mostly the plush West End galleries, they have been playing it rather conservatively in recent times, shall we say the weekend is more traditional establishment mainstream spaces rather then any real cutting edge art, although, is there any kind of real cutting edge to London’s art scene these days? There is always good art to be found around Mayfair, of https://mayfairartweekend.com/course there is, not sure about the “very best” though our last visit to the are to check out the much hyped not very hardcore Hardcore show at Sadie Coles HQ left us mostly disappointed after a couple of hours and a dozen or more West End gallery visits.
The whole weekend kicks off this Thursday 29th June from 6 to 8pm with a whole load of galleries staying open for the early part of the evening, and then continues through the weekend. Go explore the Website for full details and a list of galleries involved.
