This just in, a slice of Barney Bubbles and “I am thrilled to announce a new collaboration between Hypergallery and the Barney Bubbles estate. We have created a stunning print of Hawkwind’s album cover for In Search Of Space, designed by the late graphic genius Barney Bubbles”. so reads the press release from the gallery. “This print is a tribute to one of the most influential and innovative album artworks of all time. It recreates the game-changing cover design for space-rock collective Hawkwind’s 1971 album, which featured a fold-out die-cut sleeve that opened up to reveal a poster and a booklet. The print is 19” square and features the Barney Bubbles Estate’s signature authentication stamp, alongside the Hypergallery emboss. This print is a rare opportunity to own a piece of music and design history. It is published in a limited edition of only 25 prints”.
It is just a print of the the front cover being released here, we say just, it is one of the finest album covers and one of the finest albums from one of the finest bands. A copy of The logbook would have been good but really this is about the front cover artwork, we assume it will be on a very high quality paper and as a stand alone piece of art it really should be celebrated. We can”t actually see it on the gallery’s website yet but it is a very small print run so you’re probably going to need to contact the gallery if you want one (no price details, sorry, I don’t expect it will be cheap)
Stop press: The details are up onthe gallery website now, just over £800 will get you one, although there is a cheaper offer if you’re quick…
