We’re getting closer to this year’s live Art Car Boot Fair on Saturday 16th September. Artists are busy producing new work especially for the day, new paintings, new print releases and who knows what? There’s lots going on with the Fair these days, lots going on throughout the year, lots of Art Car Boot Fair online events, surprise pop up print releases via their website and more, it is still mostly about the main event though, about the day, the whole live experience out there in the open air, about talking to the artists. it is mostly about the noise, the visual noise, the sound, the colour, the tastes, the art, the people, the entertainment and yes all that collectable art at those special direct from the artists Art Car Boot Fair prices.

Maybe not quite so anarchic as it was back at the start of the century but then neither is London and we rather like the way the fair has evolved and continues to evolve, the way it continues to throw up new things, new names, new excitement. The full artist line up has now been revealed for the September fair, although don’t be surprised if they sneak another name or two in at the last minute 9they almost always do).
As always all the artists have been invited, this is a carefully curated event and not one of those other art fairs where any artist willing to stump up an often outrageous fees gets to do it. The Art Car Boot Fair organisers almost uniquely don’t charge the artists they invite and they expect nothing but the artist’s time and commitment. No up front fees charged, no commission taken, this is a real artist-friendly event, a rare rare thing these days (going to the fair and buying directly from the artists or indeed just coming along to look and enjoy the art and the day, is a brilliant way to support the artists involved). As always you’ll find familiar names and fair regulars alongside names new to the event, organiser Karen Ashton and her team are always out there looking for exciting new art and artists and indeed part of the fun of the fair is that there will be something for every art fan.

Alongside all the 120 or so artists and the stalls you can expect music, performers, and the fair is great in terms of people-watching. It isn’t just about buying art, it is a really great day out, loads to see and soak up. Tickets are on sale now, there’s tickets that get you in first so you can join the stampede to your favourite artist’s stall the minute the gates open, there are cheaper deals that get you in a little later in the day, the last hour of the fair is, as always, free to enter. Ticket details.
Here then is the full artist line up for The Art Car Boot Fair Goes Pop on Saturday 16th September Lewis Cubitt Square in Kings Cross, London.
