Never mind the editorial bit at the top or what we said the last time, you’ve read all this already, just jump down past this editorial and let the actual music do the actually walking and the talking. Exact same thing again, another five (or so) slices of musical things that have passed our way recently and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of apples and here comes the intro….
Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Do we need to do the editorial bit again? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying rabbits out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Snake oil? Everything must go and same as last time (and the time before that) five, and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and cut cut slash and cut it, who needs an editorial or words or worms in general? What’s Wordsworth? Just facts and links and sounds then. Here you go, play the music, grab your five, eat your greens, go eat some art, go eat some fresh music and don’t forget whatever it was we said last time…
Here we go again, same as last time, in no particular order….

1: Trio HLK – Let this one unfold, give it time, this is rather fine once you get in to the body of those rhythms . A first taste from something coming out in March of 2024, sounds like a good starting point to us, never heard of them – “Trio HLK is the union of three distinct, forward thinking musical personalities. A belief in the high art of improvisation and intrigue with the infinite art and science of rhythm is what brings H, L and K together. Together they address ambitious improvisational frameworks which often resemble contemporary classical music more than jazz. Find the rather fluid ten minute track on Bandcamp. Their previous 2018 album Standard Time, also on Bandcamp, is well worth checking out as well… More on this one in the new year without a doubt, the first significant album of 2024?
2: Kylie Monologue – Just a really refreshing piece of East London electronica released as the year draws to an end, sometimes that’s all you need. Pay as much as you wish to for it via Bandcamp
3: Oneohtrix Point Never, AKA Daniel Lopatin, has just shared an Andrew Norman Wilson-directed video for “Nightmare Paint” from his recently released masterstroke Again. The disorienting visual portrays a cryptic disassembly line of sorts, where a set of laser-fitted eyes efficiently melts one CD after another until disaster strikes…
4: Dog Lips are a no messing stripppped to the bone punk rawk band from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Chugging guitar, low lung attitude, wasn’t very nice of them to say they kill a dog (they’re probably bluffing) we can probably can forgive them that (if it was a bluff). They say soemthing about how they or you or soemone “don’t always look the other way”, and well we never said what I meant to say. A kind of raw fast, old-school Stooges play classic US Hardcore kind of thing, a thing that doesn’t need you and don’t you know the truth. Go find the rather recommended album on Bandcamp

5: Billions Of Comrades have just released a new single SCAB AALO PAM. The rather urgent band from Belgium say “This song is a shout to contribute in our own way to the struggle against a brutal police that intimidates, wounds and kills in order to maintain a sexist, racist, classicist and validist society. We want a police and a policy more just not privileged, at the service of the population and peace! ACAB or rather SCAB AALO PAM”. This music video announces a new album TROTOP that will be released in March 2024 on Rockerill Records and Black Basset Records.
“Billions Of Comrades it’s a cheeky flirt between organic and synthetic sounds creating amusic with asymmetrical structures, headbanger beats and chanted vocals. Full of adrenaline and sweat, the dance punk style of this Belgian-based quartet is free online and getting wild on a concert stage”.
Here’s something they made in 2021 with Mike Watt, actually theres’ quite a bit f back catalogue to explore on Bandcamp
