“My imagination and inspiration are rooted in Lilith, the first woman of creation, a figure found in Hebrew, Babylonian and Sumerian mythology.”

You can see the imagery as part of of the Mixtape No.7 art exhibition, to some she will be well known already, those who move in the darker corners of the goth flavoured EBM areas of dark wave performance and music will no doubt know of her. A respected DJ and music maker and we as distinctive performance artists and indeed piece of art in her own right. Lith Li is striking, she oozes power, she demands attention with her horns, with the dark shape she casts and that’s well before you get to the positive music she makes.

Lith Li, a music producer, DJ and performer who fuses her art with a profound message of change and female empowerment.  There’s an interesting interview with Zero Nine magazine where she explains a lot of her thinking, where she talks of Lilith, where she says “I am Lith Li, a Spanish music producer and DJ. My artistic-musical expression draws inspiration from the very genesis of the world, exploring socio-political, economic, and power dynamics in pursuit of equality, all through the union on the dance floor….”  

The Mixtape shows are simply about seeing an image and following the link to find out more, hopefully people are doing just that after seeing those images in the middle of the exhibition. You could argue she is as much a performance artist, indeed a visual artist as anything else, you want to know about her before your read a word or heard a note which is kind of why we invited Lith Li to take part in the latest Mixtape exhibition, to follow up the images in the show, and more for those of you who will not have seen her DJing with Kontravoid in Camden here in London last weekend or in LA where I do believe she was performing this week – her next performance is at the Fetish Factory Anniversary Weekend in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on May 23rd – here’s a little bit more of a taste of the rather powerfully striking Lith Li
