Where were we? Asked that the time before last time, enough of that and on with the music and the going off and things (and how good was it) and what we said last time or last week or last year. You’ve read all this already, never mind the damn editorial, cut to the chase and never mind the biscuits or the dogfish, just jump down past this bit, who needs an editorial? Jump past and let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing again, another five (or so) slices of musical things that have passed our way recently and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of apples and here comes the intro, Don’t be flippant she said, how could it ever be flippant? I can’t remember why she said that now, in one ear, out the other, “Gawd, is Organ still going?”
Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying rabbits out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Snake oil? Everything must go and same as last time (and the time before that) five, and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and cut cut slash and cut it, who needs an editorial or words or worms in general? What’s Wordsworth? Just facts and links and sounds then. Here you go, play the music, grab your five, eat your greens, go eat some art, go eat some fresh music and don’t forget whatever it was we said last time…
Here we go again, five slices of music that have recently come our way, in no particular order, starting somewhere in France this time

1: Aquaserge and a visual that goes with their recent rather refined single Le saut du tigre which is available via these links. The single os a track from the French band’s rather rewarding new album. More on that album in a moment, that second track is enought to make us need to explore more…
In their own words, “Aquaserge’s resolutely polymorphous music draws from sources as diverse as pop, free jazz, psych, noise, experimental rock from the 1960s and 70s (think Kraut to Canterbury to ZNR et al), vintage Italian & French film music, all ingested and playfully transmuted into their own, unique, cinematographic sound”.
2: Die Verlierer – “Die Verlierer’s second celebration of sound, their new album Notausgang (emergency exit), is an enrapturing manufactured approach to the nostalgic turns known to few as 70’s punk n roll, now released on Mangel Records. With shades of both American and German influence, Die Verlierer are lyrically exploring riotous and somber notions of both public concerns and private endeavours. The unified sonic realm does its job accordingly, with a thick determined timbre of bass, sharp guitars and rolling drums – Die Verlierer create a sound as clear as a broken glass. Through the course of 14 rich tracks, the band will take you on a journey between the busy cross roads of early- and post punk, mixing fast beats and slow&heavy melodies”. Bandcamp
3: Night in Athens – A taste of the new album, Wasted Reflektions, from Night in Athens, an album that will be released on 1st July 2024 via Wave Records, find the beautifully lush piece of music and all the links you need over on Bandcamp
Catch Night in Athens opening the show at East London’s Sebright Arms on Saturday June 8th with Sweden’s Isolated Youth (who are launching their new album at the show so we’re told), Heavy Wild and Tabac Rat completing the bill.
4: Otoboke Beaver performing live on KEXP from The Triple Door. Recorded February 20, 2024 and posted just a couple of days ago, a whole lot of going off and things….
5: Kitchen Witch – a realatively new single from the band from Adelaide, Australia (find it via Bandcamp where you can also find their excellent blues-drenched soul flavoured stoner rock tinged 2021 Earth and Ether album –
“Since 2013, Kitchen Witch have been wowing audiences with a uniquely Australian blend of blues & soul, 70’s rock, desert psychedelia and stoner metal doom. Can you resist the Siren’s call?” Well that opening track of the album, Lost, has me hooked…
5: Thom Yorke – Well not really number five, we already have five, and he doesn’t need our support these days (has he ever? Well maybe back in the days when some new band called Radiohead was opening for Cardiacs and Levitation back there, not now. Really enjoying the recently new Thom Yorke album, here’s those links and a couple of tracks…
And while we’re here…
A track from Flash and their third Album Out Of Our Hands from 1973 – Flash were an English progressive rock group, formed by former Yes guitarist Peter Banks and vocalist Colin Carter in August 1971. Bassist Ray Bennett and drummer Mike Hough completed the line-up. is this one maybe jsut a tiny bit Cardiacs before it heads off into very early 70’s proglands?
And talking of Yes…

You can still explore the recent Cultivate online show, Mixtape No.7 via this link and on this website (Organ does host all the Cultivate on line shows)
