Oh the endless parade of bands and their music and their need to share their music and where were we? Asked that the time before last time, do we need a new editorial yet? Enough of that and on with this and the music and the what we said last time or last week or last year or many years ago. You’ve read all this already, never mind the damn editorial, cut to the chase and never mind the biscuits or the catfish, jump down past this bit, who needs a damn editorial? Let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing again, another five (or so) slices of musical things that have passed our way recently and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of apples and here comes the intro, Don’t be flippant she said, how could it ever be flippant? I can’t remember why she said that now, in one ear, out the other, we have a bad attitude here apparently, no respect for those who work in the music industry, the the more important that the music music PR people! No poop Sherlock, have you only jsut workedthat one out?

Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying rabbits out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Snake oil? Everything must go and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? Just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need…

Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start down in Australia again…

1 : Nothingheads – “London’s DIY Post-Punk powerhouse” Nothingheads have announced the release of their debut LP, The Art of Sod, due on November 8th via Sister9 Recordings. In line with this announcement, the band have also disclosed the album’s rather forthright first single, Blind Spot.

Nothingheads have, so the hype that landed in the press release tells us, “spent the past two years making a name for themselves in the UK’s underground live circuit. BBC DJ Steve Lamacq praised them as “a riffier, less brittle version of Public Image Ltd”, regularly spinning their singles. Since the release of last year’s EP, Sunlit Uplands, they have toured nationwide, presenting a raw and intense set of guitar-driven music that falls somewhere in between the irreverent bite of PIL and the sonic tsunami of the OSees. It’s a whirl of static noise, with large riffs and snarling vocals cutting through the murk”.

Oh and Nothingheads play the The Shacklewell Arms London, this Saturday 13th July…

2: Screensaver – Now this sounds urgent, urgent is good, urgently good, a new single from the often rather 80s sounding Melbourne/Naarm synth-punk five-piece Screensaver, yer man from Upset said of it “Permanence is a terse thrill of a song, drawing on  pent-up frustration and chronic intensity. Permanence is out now digitally, including as this video that’ll make you wanna wield a baguette like a sword in future. Also just saying, not enough enough cat humanoids appear in music videos in general! Screensaver are hitting the autobahn in August, touring all over this Euro-portion of the globe, go see them if you can, their live show is wild! The band’s latest album Decent Shapes is out now on Upset The Rhythm too. The dates are underneath the video

3: Angelica & The Crooked PathLily is the first single from southeastern “bloom metal” band, Angelica & The Crooked Path. Combining elements of doom, sludge, witchcraft and hypnagogic aesthetics, Angelica & The Crooked Path seek to carve out their own niche; blurred around the boundaries of the gargantuan fuzzy riff genres

And, “Creatures of Spring is the second single from southeastern “bloom metal” band, Angelica & The Crooked Path. Combining elements of doom, sludge, post-rock, witchcraft, and hypnagogic aesthetics, Angelica & The Crooked Path seek to carve out their own niche; blurred around the boundaries of the gargantuan fuzzy riff genres. While the band’s first single, “Lily,” set out to demonstrate their contrasting heaviness and sense of melody, “Creatures Of Spring” shows the more eclectic side of their influences – post-rock, jazz, and choral music, among others”.

Here’s Angelica’s Bandcamp, and well, we look forward to more, so far so good…

4: Lice – Another fine taste from what is shaping up to be an interesting album. Says here that “Bristol-formed experimental rock group Lice release their new single Mown In Circles, taken from their forthcoming album Third Time At The Beach. The album is a three-part epic, exploring the struggle to better understand the world around us, and will be released 20th September via AD 93. Darting between minimalism, rock, techno and more, it sends us hurtling us through time and space: featuring a cast of astronauts, cavemen and dinosaurs”. It also says that following sold-out shows in Bristol & London, the band head on a full UK Tour in October, I guess their website will tell you more or their social media or their Bandcamp. The animation deserves a mention, it is by Harry Wyld.

5: Fcukers – They do live up to their well chosen name, they have something new, an EP called Baggy$$’ EP, it isn’t out until early September but they have let loose a taste in the form of a track called Homie Don’t Shake today. Now we have warned you about their earworms and their bon bons before, those bon bons will get you, we’re told the debut EP from the hot hot hotter then hell (burn you like the midday sun) trio is “a perfect encapsulation of the sound the New York outfit have been cultivating for the past year and half” as they carve out what it says here is “a fierce and growing reputation as one of the most exciting acts operating out of NYC today”.

Fcukers (the spellchecker wants us to call them Fleckers) emerged as “one of the most talked-about bands at SXSW and then more recently at the Great Escape weekend”, they play Pitchfork London this Summer (well someone has to play for bloody Pitchfork) and later this year are scheduled to play several Ed Banger 20th Anniversary parties in North America alongside the likes of Hudson Mohawke and Tiga. I guess all that is supposed to impress us, it doesn’t really, but their sound does and their videos, do like their videos (and their bon bons!). You can watch the new Homie Don’t Shake video right here, thank us later when it gets stuck in your head next to those bon bons…

Here’s the Bandcamp thing as always, the Baggy$$’ EP is out in September, you can find two of the tracks from it right now, meanwhile, heart, if you really must, are all the other links and things

5 and a bit: The Dare – What is that smell? Could it be the smell of the video for Perfume by The Dare? Will anyone get abandoned? And if they do, will the night last forever? £5.99? Was he talking pounds? probably dollars, don’t ask us…

One more time… Jump!

and…

And there we have it, so there was six, what ya’ gonna do? Have some Van Der Graaf, there might still be people who don’t know this piece of music and that should not be
