Oh the endless demand. Where were we? Almost asked that the time before last time, do we need a new editorial yet? An endless parade indeed, whatever morning this is and the inbox is full of messages, pleas, can you listen to my new song? Have you listened to our album yet? We could really do with a review, and who needs a damn editorial? Let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing again, another five (or so) slices of musical things that have passed our way recently and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of lemons and here comes the intro, Don’t be flippant she said, how could it ever be flippant? I can’t remember why she said that now, in one ear, out the other, we have a bad attitude here apparently, no respect for those who work in the music industry, well no poop Sherlock, have you only just worked that one out? We’ve been showing (and getting) zero respect since the last century, zero flips given…

Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying rabbits out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Snake oil? Everything must go and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, skip this bit, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? Just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need from us?

Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start somewhere in Dayton Ohio with the coolness of Kim Deal…

1: Kim Deal – ‘Crystal Breath’ is taken from ‘Nobody Loves You More’, the debut album by Kim Deal, out November 22. More about the album here or via Bandcamp

2: Buñuel – Last month, frontman and founder Eugene S. Robinson announced his departure from Oxbow in the midst of their European tour, leading to the break up of the band after an incredible 36-year run – and leaving everyone, so it says here, wondering what would happen next? Well here’s at least part of the answer to that question…

The album Mansuetude will be released on October 25th, 2024 as a joint release by Skin Graft and Italy’s Overdraft Records. This first taste is rather metallic thing, we need to taste more than just the one bite before we can say that much, we’ll sit up on the fence and await more. Ths is something from a literal supergroup, some might say from a band of global significance, Buñuel boasts the singular vocals and razor sharp lyrics of Mr. Eugene S. Robinson (once of Oxbow) which in tiself is enough to make us want to post this here, he’s joined by a “powerhouse Italian trio” comprised of guitarist Xabier Iriondo (Afterhours, A Short Apnea), bassist Andrea Lombardini (The Framers) and drummer Franz Valente (IL Teatro Delgi Orrori).

3: Tess ParksCrown Shy is a rather glowing piece of beauty lifted from Tess Parks’ new album Pomegranate, released September 25th 2024 on Fuzz Club and Hand Drawn Dracula. Fine details and a further taste on Bandcamp

4: The Residents – a rare bit of residentual goodness and a rather fine track that was left off a 1974 album. Until now only available as a seven inch found exclusively inside the coffee table book, The Residents: A Sight for Sore Eyes, Vol. 1. This song, previously unreleased, is surely too good to remain obscure, why was it not releases in 1974? No body nos, who knows? What’s his name? Nose? You can now grab it as a download from Bandcamp

5: Man/Woman/Chainsaw – A new single, Grow A Tongue In Time, a glowing piece of music from their upcoming EP Eazy Peazy, out on Fat Possum on November 8th. it is a rather delcious thing, certainly worth sewing a stitch or building a bridge, well of course it is or we wouldn’t be sharing it here…

And while we’re here, that Decemberists moment in Victoria Park last weekend, the one we were talking about a few days back, a powerfully beautiful moment at All Points East, a slice of Severed and the authentic words of JD Vance from their set on the main stage in the East London park, 25th August 2024 – ORGAN THING: Decemberists, Sleater-Kinney, Gossip, Say She She, Gustaf, Teenage Fanclub, the final day of All Points East is full of treats…

They were so so good….

And Gossip weren’t bad in the park last weekend either, here some crowd watching…
