Shall we write a new editorial? Oh the endless demand. Where were we? Almost asked that the time before last time. An endless parade indeed, whatever morning this is and the inbox is full of messages, pleas, (angry) demands, can you listen to my new song? Have you listened to our album yet? We could really do with a review, and who needs a damn editorial? Let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing again, another five (or so) slices of musical things that have passed our way recently and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of lemons and here comes the intro, Don’t be flippant she said, how could it ever be flippant? I can’t remember why she said that now, in one ear, out the other, we have a bad attitude here apparently, no respect for those who work in the music industry, well no poop Sherlock, have you only just worked that one out? We’ve been showing (and getting) zero respect since the last century, zero flips given…
Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying rabbits out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Snake oil? Everything must go and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, skip this bit, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? Just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need from us?
Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start somewhere in Canada (didn’t we say that last time as well?)

Bonnie Trash – Hail Hale, Bonnie Trash have emerged from the shadows to declare love from beyond the grave, or so it says here, they do kind of sound like a slightly heavier shoegazing goth slice of goodness, the Canadian band are back with an expanded lineup and a brand-new EP, My Love Remains the Same.
“Bonnie Trash is the darkened shoegaze/post-punk drone project by twin sisters Emmalia and Sarafina Bortolon-Vettor. The recent addition of longtime friends Emma Howarth-Withers (bass) and Dana Bellamy (drums) gives the group a new lavish and layered sound” – Let the rather infectious music do the luscious talking…. the new single is about to come out on Hand Drawn Dracula
2: Moreish Idols – More from South London’s Moreish Idols who return with their new single Pale Blue Dot. The track follows their two critically acclaimed EPs Float and Lock Eyes and Collide. The single will be released on 7”(featuring an exclusive Dan Carey dub remix titled “Pale Blue Dub”) on 1st October via Speedy Wunderground, it is actually Speedy’s 50th. Here come the links
It really is about the way this one flows, they’re evolvving, this is a song that swells, there’s some really subtle undertones that that float is floating on…
Speaking on the track, the band says, “Pale Blue Dot has been through many iterations, from simple drum machine / guitar demo, to evil krautrock demon hellscape. A spontaneous decision led by Dan Carey brought us to his studio at 8 in the morning to quickly run the song in a new, shortened arrangement, played on acoustic guitars and simplified down to its bare bones. It was a beautiful morning, and we all felt we were hearing the song the way it was meant to be heard: just straight to the point.
The track encourages you to kill your darlings, soak in the vastness of everything, and commit to your own obliterating but necessary ego death. Pale Blue Dot has been through this same journey and for that it’s a very special one for us.”

3: Soccer Mommy – She is the most North American of things both in terms of name and sound, Driver is from the new album Evergreen out on 25th October via Loma Vista – “Soccer Mommy, the musical project of beloved Nashville songwriter and musician Sophie Allison, recently announced her staggering new album Evergreen. She has highlighted the more organic production of this record with the breathtaking, acoustic-forward Lost, and M, and today she shares a new side of the record with Driver. A classic, catchy-as-hell Soccer Mommy rocker, Driver is a testament to Allison’s spaciness and indecision; it’s a cheeky song about someone who is willing to deal with those flaws, to love you in spite of them. Listen to the song right here and…”.
I like the looseness, that almost slackerness, the sunny American flavour of it all, this one is grabbing us a little more…
Soccer Mommy also announces a massive, four-month North American, UK and European tour in support of Evergreen today. In addition to her forthcoming performance at NYC and DC’s All Things Go later this month and Austin’s Levitation Festival in November, Soccer Mommy will bring the new album on the road from January through the end of May, more here, I see she’s in Hackney in May next year but will we still be here by then?
4: Why the Eye are an experimental masked quartet from Brussels, we’re told it is about bodies being propelled into trance during their live performances. They Describe their music as “Prehistoric Techno”. Why The Eye are set to release new album ‘Inspirex’ on the 4th October via Exag Records. All instruments are DIY and played in real time, without loops or sequencers. – Links / Bandcamp
5: The Psychs – Begging for attention, hoping for a mention, actually they ddin;t but they do clearly do deserve some… Here’s their website
And seeing as everyone else is going on about them non beedin’ stop, here’s a track from Oasis from back when they were at their best back in 1973

One response to “ORGAN: Five music things – Bonnie Trash emerge from the shadows, Moreish Idols bring on Speedy’s 50th, Soccer Mommy, Why the Eye are an experimental masked quartet from Brussels, The Psychs oh and some Oasis…”
