Another rush before the show ends posting, now time to get all wordy, Tasty Tasty, opened a couple of days ago, it ends on Sunday evening, I’m in a rush, it is a tasty show, we need to get this on line while you still have time to go. “Tasty Tasty is an installation exploring themes of constructed femininity and ‘allure’. It reflects on the efforts required to achieve ‘natural beauty’ and wonders what happens if you ‘let yourself go’. The installation is filled with 2D and 3D work, plus light works and audio. Tasty Tasty takes its name from a line in the 2006 song Fergalicious by Fergie, of the Black-Eyed Peas”.
This is brilliant, this is exciting, is this really Studio 1.1? The usually rather robust, rather mescaline rather bleak set of (never that art-friendly) white boxes on East London’s Redchurch Street has been totally and utterly transformed into a far more feminine art space by Sadie Hennessy, a multi-disciplinary artist, “notable for using dark humour in her work”. She trained at Dartington College of Arts and gained her MA from Central St. Martins. She is the former Screen Print Fellow at the Royal Academy and won the Jealous Graduate Art Prize for her MA Show. She is the Chairwoman of the Whitstable ANchorage Klub, hosting the famous Whitstable End of the Pier Show, and the Salon de Ballon”.
It really is exciting to walk in and off the Saturday afternoon street and into a space like this (are you sure this is really the usually rather dour Studio 1.1?). Bathed in pink, it sounds magnificent, it looks, well what is the word? Alluring? Mysteriously attractive or fascinating; seductive? Tempting; enticing; Is alluring a compliment? Hey, this is excellent, there is no time, it is late on Saturday night, you only have from 1pm until 7pm on Sunday evening (15th September) to catch the experience. (sw)
