Tess Parks – Pomegranate – (Fuzz Club/Hand Drawn Dracula) – This is a rather beautifully refined album, a delicious album, an album full of all kinds of things, an album mostly full of joy. Sometimes it does just feel like everyone should be dancing and it takes a lot to make things feel as easy as this whole album makes it sound. That bit there is just gorgeous, that bit in California Dreaming, actually the whole album is laced with gorgeous moment after gorgeous moment, that bit of guitar that opens Running Home to Sing is just radiant.
Canada-born, London-based singer/songwriter Tess Parks has a new album, Pomegranate, out on October 25th. The follow-up to her long-awaited solo return with And Those Who Were Seen Dancing, an album that landed back in 2022 to critical acclaim following a string of collaborative albums with our “old friend” Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe. Pomegranate is kind rejuvenating on days when you want it to be, it isn’t every day you want it to be but on days that you do this is the right album. It feels fresh, refreshing, dreamlike, atmospheric, almost nostalgic bit then the textures are modern rather than retro, it all feels like right now, it feels like an album to dip into rather than over eat, one to save for those moments, like you do with ice cream or chocolate cake, you can’t be over doing ice cream and chocolate cake…
