Yeah, I know we’re still dealing with art in 2024 but it does feel like the year in terms of art is fading away quietly and while we’re busy trying to avoid the desperation of Christmas art fairs and pop up sales and get me to the other side now please, Condo London 2025 has just been announced. A collaborative exhibition by 49 galleries across 22 London spaces. The now back to annual again after last year’s post Covid return, the London Art event (with the ever annoying website) that kind of kickstarts the art year (alongside the London Art Fair) will happen this year between 18th January and 15th February 2025 although to get the best out of it you really should focus on the opening preview weekend of Saturday and Sunday 18th/19th January when all the galleries involved should be open from Midday until 6pm on both days, it does tend to feel a little half-hearted in terms of the commitment of the galleries after the first weekend, go for the first weekend and bump into other people trying to make sense of the map and the website on their phones.  Actually the website does normally look good, the design and the look is part of it, just as a piece of functional information it is rather annoying, it is the best so far in terms of looks, I rather like it, is it a hopeful sign?

Condo is basically where a whole bunch of the establishment’s slightly left-field art galleries of London host a whole much of out of town and mostly overseas galleries. I can’t say exploring Condo London in previous years has been that rewarding but hey, we are ever hopeful and let’s see what 2025 has to offer. We shall no doubt set out fron our Hackney bunker on the preview weekend full of the joy of new year and ready to be excited, challenged, poked or at least engaged with in some kind of positive way.

Anyway, cynical smiles and comments on how as worthy as all this hosting is, most of these galleries could maybe do with supporting (or at least take a tiny hint of a bit of interest in) just one or two of London’s own artists a little more than they actually do, parking that cynical smile to one side for a moment, here’s a list of this year’s participating London Galleries as well as which out of town or (mostly) overseas galleries they are hosting this year…
