Shall we write a new editorial? Oh the endless demand and who needs a damn editorial? No time for editorials, let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing again, another five (or so) slices of musical things that have passed our way recently and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of lemons and here comes the editorial. Don’t be flippant she said, how could it ever be flippant? I can’t remember why she said that now, in one ear, out the other, we have a bad attitude here apparently, no respect for those who work in the music industry, well no poop Sherlock, have you only just worked that one out? We’ve been showing (and getting) zero respect since the last century, zero flips given.

Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying rabbits out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Snake oil? Everything must go and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, skip this bit, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? Just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need from us?

Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start somewhere in some strange place called Xeeland

1: Xeeland – That up above there is experimental sound artist Xeeland with a mesmerizing new single Zones, backed by the equally haunting Wall Beast The Plague. Available now as a limited-edition 7” vinyl via Champion Version Records and digitally through God Unknown Records, “this release is an unflinching dive into the liminal spaces where sound and chaos collide. Both tracks are meticulously constructed from drones, field recordings, found instruments, and layered sound collages, creating a rich sonic tapestry. The spoken-word text, drawn from a cut-up technique, adds an unsettling, claustrophobic edge to the music. The words are lifted and scrambled from a review of Stalker (1979), the iconic Soviet science fiction film by Andrei Tarkovsky. The result is an abstract, fragmented narrative that evokes the same eerie, enigmatic atmosphere as the film itself”.

Previously – ORGAN: Five musical things of a more experimental nature – Xeeland’s glacial drone, Martina Berther, Vic Bang, Ester Poly, Jim White and Marisa Anderson’s Swallowtail…

Xeeland is a solo project by Jason Stoll. Here’s the Bandcamp

And well this five thing is just that, it could be anything, the only this is it has to be good, other than that who knows? We don’t, hopefully you don’t? No one hads managed to pur Organ in a pigeonhole yet, that is how we like it. What kind of music do you cover? The good type, on with it

2: Bandler Ching let their sound do the talking on Époustouflant, the second single from their upcoming album to be released in early 2025. More details and a second slightly more funky track from their album over on Bandcamp.

“Hailing from Brussels, Bandler Ching is a creation of musical ideas from composer and saxophonist Ambroos De Schepper. Flawlessly blending contemporary jazz, electronics, hip-hop, noise and global beats, the sound is based around the freedom of expression and improvisation and performed with”

3: That Band Called Susan – Early moves for the two piece noise band, this video/track has been arounds for a couple of months now, a spot on a rather good looking bill with Pussyliqor has jsut bought them to our intention. The bill in question features Pussyliquor, Industy Standard, Laurie Black and That Band Called Susan at Paper Dress Vintage, Hackney, in Happens on January 24th, here’s a bit just written for the born again London Gigs website

– “Pussyliquor are raw no messing punk kitties they headline a strong bill that also includes Industry Standard who in turn deal out what they call wonky-tonk swamp pop, it comes with a bit of bites and yes, not your average hoedown. Laurie Black deals in delicious electro pop bleeps and bloops laced politically enraged lyrics, That Band Called Susan are a intensely raw and rather impressive noise punk duo, they say they are both scared of music, they make a noise that bites” – Here’s the Facebook event page

Here’s how they tell it themselves – “That Band Called Susan is an unapologetic sonic assault with a knack for unleashing chaos and turning it into art. The Hertfordshire based noise punk duo combines aggressive, insulting bass with borderline abusive drums to create their boundary pushing sound with blistering raw energy”. – Linktree / Bandcamp

4: Industry Standard are also featured on that bill we mentioned in That Band Called Susan bit just up there, this is something they’ve just let loose. Here’s the Linktree

5: Laurie Black – Well although there’s isn’t anything that new from her she is adding the that rather tasty bill we just mentioned up there in the Susan bit so why not share a Ms Black track as well, this is rather lush, here’s her website

and seeing as we were on about them and that gig in January up there that they’re headlining, here’s some classic no messing Pussyliquor

And here, with a complete cheange of mood, or maybe not? Ahead of this weekend’s London show is some more classic IQ – ORGAN THINGS: As the cold comes in and all around us cats put on leg warmers, IQ are back in London this coming weekend, meanwhile Killing Joke’s Jaz Coleman orchestrates Pink Floyd and some new Abstract Concrete footage…

One response to “ORGAN: Five music things – Two piece noise makers That Band Called Susan, experimental sound artist Xeeland, Bandler Ching let their sound do the talking, Industry Standard, Laurie Black, some classic no messing Pussyliquor, a bit more IQ and yeah, alright, seven music things…”
