Export Import are known for hosting a variety of Life Passage Ceremonies. Now they have been quiet for most of the year besides the occasional gig they never tell anyone about, quiet all year after that excellent Live at Gallery 46 album that happened and featured in our end of year best of last year.

Export Import are almost unique, they can go for 460 days with no sense or a coat, okay maybe we could mention Black Midi but really that is lazy music journalism – hey, no one ever said we were music journalists or that it was going to be easy, we’re just here to erect signposts and point at things, hey over there, Export Import (and only 500 feet until the woods). A whole loads of violins,  Cornets, Clarinets, a Mini Sax, electronics, lounge lizards. That start to Good Morning (the A-Side) does sound familiar, that live album was played lots and loatts around here, it does sound like, well what does it sound like? A thousand street hustlers all at once? People from some hypercity carrying bouquets of what? Have mercy, celestial light, Jesus Christ, do like the percussion, the percussion is like street trams or overhead trains or a a whole load of shuffles going on at the same time, we’re spangles baby! It ain’t about the way they feel, it ain’t right, it ain’t real, oh but it is though, the best of the year saved to last, now this is what we call a debut single, it came out on Christmas Eve, they’ve got some moxy. Here it is, don’t say we didn’t say last year, maybe next year the overseas trade figures are going to be looking up, they say there’s a double album on the way?

‘Hi, just wanted to get in touch to say I was the guy who got taken to the hospital at the Windmill in Brixton. I’m told I fell back and hit my head on the stage! No lasting damage luckily. The band were awesome . Thanks for a great night!’ – A man who was hospitalized at the funeral of Ferdinand the 1st of Aragon, Hosted by Export Import.

‘I don’t feel like I can relate and truly sponsor the spiritual side of the band.’ – A Hungarian bodybuilder named Kadocsa Szabo who was the president of public relations for Export Import for 4 months after deciding to withdraw from the partnership.

Here then is Export Import’s debut single, grab it while you can (I’d be grabbing that live album from 2023 while you still can as well). Happy Boxing Day, don’t go into those woods… The single is out on London’s Slowdance Records, it probably is one of the singles of the year, find it on Bandcamp
