L U C A – No Wave – An album released on December 24th, this is still a non stop operation. Two tracks, two rather fine pieces of textured music, sculpted music, both pieces just over twenty minutes long. Three musicians, Benjamin Davis (85bEARS, Early Mammal, Black Helium), Ben Wolcott (To Live And Shave In L.A), Benedict Edwards (Miocene), no details in terms of who is playing what or in terms of how it was made, just the finished thing, the sound, the picture, the pictures, the forward movement, the flow. Two instrumental pieces, they sound composed, it might be improv, kind of like that they haven’t told anyone anything about the how and why, “drones and drums” is the only clue offered. Do like it, do like the textures, the shards of the second piece, the broken glass, the staticstorm, the drums coming through it all but never dominating the whatever it is, the various drones and clones, the phones, was that a phone, leave me along, get off the phone, someone was on the phone, it got lost in the music, we’re lost in music, caught in a trap, no turning back.
