A quick Organ preview piece today, Ceremony – A Festival of Performance is something that will happen at the Copeland Gallery in Peckham, South London this April 23rd until 27th. The festival is produced by Future Ritual (who also work with Ron Athey, someone we’ve covered a number of times on these pages as well as via previous formats of Organ). We’re told “London hasn’t seen a performance art festival like this in some time despite the demand and interest”.

There are some renowned artists taking part from the UK and beyond. One is Anne Bean, some might know of Anne as a result of the Paul Hamlyn foundation award she won in 2024 for visual art. Anne Bean has been making work both performative and visual for over 50 years.

Others include Sweden’s Gustaf Broms who has performed all over the world but never in the UK, Gustaf will be performing, so will Berlin’s Liz Rosenfeld, continuing their themes of cruising and dark rooms with a new performance and installation titled Tremble, their site explains more about their practice. It is worth mentioning that they have a book launch at Tate Modern later on in May

Marilyn Arsem founded the Mobius artists group in America, she’s Boston-based. She is coming over earlier on in April to do both workshops then perform a durational work to close the festival on April 27th. VestAndPage founded the Venice International Performance Art Week as well as working as an artist duo, their website is here and they’re also performing on April 27th
