As we said about a week ago, Steven Appleby’s Nothing Is Real at Space Station Sixty-Five, his excellent retrospective, goes on over by the Oval in South East London. The exhibition opened last year and we’re getting close to the end now – although, stop press, we’re not, the show has now been extended and as we said before, it is very highly recommended.

Steven just posted “My exhibition of ideas, obsessions, objects, paintings, cartoons, constructions, prints, ephemera, animations and aggravations ends with a closing party on…. well no, scrub that, here’s what the gallery just said…

“”Space Station Sixty-Five is very pleased to announce the extension of our current exhibition, Nothing is Real to Saturday 10th May 2025. Nothing is Real, an exhibition that started in October 2024, has featured a series of events and a substantial turnout of visitors who have actively engaging with the show. In response to the overwhelming demand expressed, we are pleased to announce an extension of the show, in order to enable those who have not yet managed to visit to attend.

This show takes a deep dive into Steven Appleby’s life and work—it’s filled with fascinating insights and unique pieces to explore. It is Steven’s biggest show of his career, with over 100 works that explore themes of sex, death, secrets, ageing, gender, and identity. All of the work is imprinted with his trademark absurdist humour and his obsession with revealing what lies beneath the surface. Please make sure to follow our Instagram, sign up for our email newsletter, and check our website for upcoming events”.
