Shall we write a new editorial now? Oh the endless demand and who needs a damn editorial let alone a new one? No time for editorials, let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing again, another five (or so) slices of music that have passed our way recently and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of oranges and here comes the editorial. Don’t be flippant she said, how could it ever be flippant? I can’t remember why she said that now, in one ear, out the other. We have a bad attitude here apparently, no respect for those who work in the music industry, well no poop Sherlock, have you only just worked that one out?
Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying haddocks out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Snake oil? Everything must go and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, skip this bit, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? Just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need from us?

Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start with something from Lyon…

1: Pili Coït have just let loose a new video, a live version of a track that appears in studio form on the recent split album the band made with Yowie – ORGAN THING: Pili Coït and Yowie, a split album on Dur et Doux and SkinGraft Records – “Split? There’s nothing divisive about it”. Two highly recommended bands challenging both themselves and you and me with what surely will be one of the albums of the year when it comes to list these things… We can never have too much Pili Coït…
2: Lobsterbomb – Not Again, the new single from Lobsterbomb, released via Ladies&Ladys Records. here’s the Berlin band’s Bandcamp and website, what more do you need?
“Not Again is about being honest with yourself. How it is good for you to be self reflective and accept that problems exist in order to be able to work on them. The music is as urgent as the need to figure out your issues.” – Crayon Jones

3: Codex Serafini and some rather fine live footage of the band at Strange Brew, Bristol filmed rather well by Astral Radio – Astral Radio is Bristol’s premier underground online radio station, dedicated to the more experimental corners of rock music. Born from the city’s vibrant music scene, we serve as both archive and amplifier for the sounds that shake foundations and expand minds – Find more Codex Serafini via their Bandcamp page as well as their Facebook page.
“Codex Serafini are a Saturnian Ritualistic band hailing from outer-space, currently passing through Earth and temporally residing in Sussex. They are keen to spread their message as far and wide as is possible in their current forms.”
And we see Codex Serefin have a gig in Brighton at a venue Daltons soon, a gig put on by Yeah Go On Then and soon being August 24th, not that soon then but hey, it was their Facebook event page that tooks us ot the live footage. Support that day comes from Bristol’s Seneca who kind of have a bit of Black Medi about them if you ask these ears…
4: Seneca – And as we just said up there, Bristol’s Seneca are playing with Codex Serefin in Brighton later this Summer. They say they’re “a bit prog and a bit punk”, here’s their latest release from last year via Bandcamp
5: Goat Girl – Today or tomorrow or yesterday Goat Girl are “announcing an exciting new venture into the world of scoring and classical composition, announcing their new EP Below The Waste – Orchestrated (out June 18th).
A year on from the critically acclaimed album (out on Rough Trade), the band will release four reimagined cuts from it. Kicking off proceedings is ‘sleep talk (chamber ensemble)’, accompanied by an attentively-shot video of the session by Mateo Villanueva Brandt & Conrad Magan”. Here’s the link to the Goat Girl website… Goat Girl are playing EartH here in Hackney, East London on Sunday 15th June which is good news for us seeing as it is jsut a walk away, not so good for you if you’re reading this in Mexico or North Wales or…
And while we’re here and just because we haven’t for a bit, here’s a bit of the thing that fuelled us for all that time…
