Another quick notice while we find whatever it was we needed to find. There’s a rather organic, rather French double header, coming to town tomorrow. Tomorrow is Thursday June 19th and the place is over in Dalston at London’s Shacklewell Arms. A free to enter gig brought to you by Baba Yaga’s Hut, as part of a short English tour that then goes on to Bristol and Birmingham…

Foudre! sound like they’re coming direct from the Poodle Lounge on a Friday night but that might be an obscure reference too far for those who don’t remember Monkey Pilot and the pre-mega days of Club Dog over in Finsbury Park where all kind of strange exotic otherness could be heard. Foudre! are talked of in terms melancholic delight, intense dark, they have something deep that’s served with a sense of the epic, they are for Ullulators everywhere and I guess what comes around goes around again in a rather celebratory kind of heart-warming way. The French outfit’s most recent rather organic electronic analogue flavoured album, 2024’s Voltæ (Chthulucene) is “a tribute to electricity and telluric forces, a complete celebration of life, a symbiosis for an epistemic shift” and we share this here a year on and only just in time for some UK dates happening this very week. Question is will they bring their Mellotron?
Zohastre meanwhile deal is a deliciously forward moving whirl of semi-urgent kaleidoscopic psychedelia, they’re a rather forthright French-Italian duo, a “whirlwind combination of spacio-tribal drums and bewitched electronics, impro-ritualistic music for trance-like FX and reverse glicht dance moves” as someone else put it. Their 2023 album is said to be “circumventing all that boring ‘song’ stuff for full-on sensation – Abracadabra is an energetic celebration conjured from the head spaces of Zohastre’s Olmo and Héloïse. Here’s it is, let the music do the whirling and the talking and rest…
