Well, why not, we do everything else over here, why not recommend a London gig or a passing band or two here like we already do over on the excellently uncluttered London Gigs website website? Yeah yeah, London blah blah blah, it is where we live and work, it is where we are, where we do things, where we know who serves a decent pint and who doesn’t and we could have an editorial here buy hey, who needs it, who needs it? You’ll find no shelter from that kind of tower, who needs that kind of insanity, we do need a decent gig guide without all the clutter and the need to roll a dice so do please go support our friends at London Gigs, do go and feed them you gig info and share their links and support each other, network, work together, make things happen, a little more than a damn Instagram story that no one ever sees…

1: Extra Life – Surely one of the very best bands of this century, Extra Life are in town, this is very good news indeed, following on from last year’s rather unexpected album Charlie Looker and company bring their uniquely special beauty to town, when they released The Sacred Vowel back in April last year we said – Not an inch of excess, every second, every note vital, this is economic music. Have Extra Life released the album of the year already?
Extra Life play a Chaos Theory gig at New River Studios on Friday 27th June, here’s the Facebook event page. The current Extra Life line up joining “art-rock visionary” Charlie Looker includes Toby Driver (Kayo Dot), violinist Timba Harris (Ultraphauna, Secret Chiefs 3), and drummer Cameron Wisch (Sheer Mag, Dust Star), I mean come on, this is going to be oen of the gigs of the year…

2: Couch Slut – Now this perfectly named band are the forthright business and they’re in town this week, they describe themselves as “Putrid, drug-fuelled gutter rock from the filthy streets of NYC. NSFW” which kind of hits the nail perfectly on the head. A little more than just noise though, they’ve got a dark twist or two, a way with their words as well as the riffs they challenge you with, they ate deliciously Visceral…”
Couch Slut play The Dome, over in Tufnell Park, London N19 on Thursday 26th June…
3: Man/Woman/Chainsaw are at the Sebright Arms this week and according to the London Gigs website we recent said “the teenage London band who are threatening to be potentially thrilliant”. You just passed a rather excellent film of them at the George Tavern from last year. The Sebright Arms is at 31-35 Coate St, Hoxton, London E2 9AG, Man/Woman/Chainsaw are there on Thursday 26th June with support from AtticOmatic. Here’s more Man/Woman/Chainsaw via Bandcamp

4: Masma Dream World is “the experimental project led by artist and healer Devi Mambouka. With roots in Gabon and Singapore, Mambouka is a child of the world. She recalls rainforest rituals and the presence of ghosts and spirits throughout her childhood in Gabon before immigrating to The Bronx. Here, instead of forests, she lost herself in record stores and began a spiritual, educational journey, DJing and immersing herself in NYC’s nightlife. A former Catholic school student, she studied religions of all kinds but found her guides in magic, maternal Hindu ancestors, the Black Madonna and Kali, the Hindu goddess of creation and destruction, and the mother of the forgotten ones”.
Catch Masma Dream World over here from New York at London’s Cafe Oto on Thursday 26th June. Here’s the rather deliciously dark rather rich album released back in February of this year via Bandcamp. Why are so many good gigs happen on Thursday, what about Wednesday?

5: Gryphon – Following the release of their new live album, Gryphon Live – A Sonic Tonic back in November 2024, Gryphon are at The Bedford over in Balham, London SW12 with their unique blend of very folky progressive rock that comes deliciously blended with classical and early music. They are both Legendary and unpredictable; “Gryphon are the antidote to genres, remaining as impossible to pigeonhole as ever. They Celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2023 with a string of successful live shows which resulted in the excellent live album we just mentioned. Gryphon are virtuosos, they are also a very English delight, the current touring band features original members Graeme Taylor, Brian Gulland and Dave Oberlé along with Andy Findon, Rob Levy and Clare Taylor…
Gryphon are at The Bedford over in Balham, London SW12 9HD on Thursday 26th June
6: Oral Habit – Yeah, I know we said five, one more won’t harm and yes a free gig and a chance to just go and see if they are as good live as a quick listen hints they might just be, we see, via the London Gigs website that Brighton’s Oral Habit are playing a free gig in London this week, middle of a three band bill at The Shacklewell Arms, 71 Shacklewell Lane, Dalston, London on Thursday June 26th and yeah, I know, we already recommended two or three gigs that are happening on Thursday and no one can be everywhere at once, do rather like what we can hear of Oral Habit over on Bandcamp though. Hadn’t heard of them until I saw them listed on London Gigs and checked them out (that is what we want a gig guide that really is that simple and uncluttered…) and who doesn’t like putting on a garage frock? Oral Habit’s new single is out in July (they’re back at the Shacklewell on July 5th as well)
Find more over at the born again London Gigs website where we so regularly recommend things. Really good to have London Gigs back and not to have to wade all the pub quizes, tribute bands and the rest of the crap that clutters up bloody Dice…

And If you do feel like making a small donation – We bring all this art, music and underculture to you for free, we really don’t want to clutter up our pages with annoying adverts, no one wants that, but it does take up a lot of time, hours and hours of time. If you should feel like supporting Organ/Cultivate (for it is one in the same) by making a small donation to help keep all this flowing that would be delightful, thank you.
