Oh the Frippery of it all, or unnecessary ornament in architecture, dress, or language, we demand Frippery. Shall we write a new editorial now? Oh the endless demand and who needs a damn editorial let alone a new one? No time for editorials, let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing again, another five (or so) slices of music that have passed our way recently and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of oranges and here comes the editorial. Don’t be flippant she said, how could it ever be flippant? I can’t remember why she said that now, in one ear, out the other. We have a bad attitude here apparently, no respect for those who work in the music industry, well no poop Sherlock, have you only just worked that one out?

Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying haddocks out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Snake oil? Everything must go and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, skip this bit, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? Just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need from us?

Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start with something from Canada or it could be Belgium…

1: Ghostwoman: Levon is the second single from the forthcoming album Welcome to the Civilized World, due out September 5th on Full Time Hobby Records and Dine Alone Records. Ghostwoman are made up of Belgium/Canada-based duo Evan Uschenko and Ille van Dessel, they’re set to tour the UK later this year, we have covered them before, they seemed to be called Ghost Woman rather than Ghostwoman last time, they seem to be evolving and maturing rather nicely…

1 and a bit: Oasis Boom – Here’s something that excellent French label Dur et Doux have just started talking about, a teaser as it were, more later I expect, we have been teased…

2: Whimm have a rather alive new single, the lead track rather bites in an urgent way, the second is delicate and rather whimsical which kind of suits their name, “Whimm is the recording and performance project of Mounir Al Shami and Andrew Matthews. Says here that Whimm began “as a vehicle to channel more traditional post-punk and no-wave influences, but over the past decade, their sound has bloomed into more spectral and mutable ambitions. Their albums play out like a soundtrack for a grimy psych film – sometimes a fury of punk or industrial guitar frenzy, a woozy ballad, electronic groove, or even a cosmic orchestration” and I guess you’ve got all that spread over these three rather different rather intriguing tracks, here’s the Bandcamp thing

3: Tan Cologne – Have we said anything about the new Tan Cologne album yet? We really should have done, it did just come out about a week ago, hey things have been busy. Here’s a taste a rather delciously restrained very slow moving album, find the whole thing via Bandcamp or…

“Tan Cologne is the duo of Lauren Green and Marissa Macias based in Northern New Mexico. The two artists work in tactile and sonic modalities inspired by both Earthly and otherworldly landscapes. Tan Cologne often explores the mysteries and oddities of New Mexico, alongside spatial inner-workings of growth and spirit”.

4: Peretsky (FKA La Meme Young) is to release a new album called It Doesn’t Get Cold in October Anymore on Whited Sepulchre Records, actually the album just came out, here’s a first taste while we go explore it all all, more in a moment unless the wind blows us off course again. Bandcamp once more…

5: Blonde Redhead & Brooklyn Youth Chorus – Blonde Redhead are, s oit says here, the “legendary trio” of Kazu Makino and twin brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace. Today, they release a new single, Rest Of Her Life (Choir Version) from The Shadow of the Guest, their reimagining of 2023’s Sit Down For Dinner, available for physical pre-order and out digitally this Friday 27 June via section1. Do rather like these choral reimaginings they’re coming up with at the moment

And while we’re here, this is rather attention holding…

And a bit more Ghostwoman
