Chop Chop are in London this week, the Brighton band are at Hackney’s rather colourful Paper Dress Vintage. Who are Chop Chop? Well they’re a rather unique band really, someone said “Performance-art punk meets experimental groove. Fronted by Galician poet Xelís de Toro, expect cutlery-jammed guitars, hubcap percussion and glorious mayhem…” which is about right. Regulars on our Other Rock Show, sometimes ferocious, wildly original, different, they play on Saturday19th July, here’s the Dice page with details (oh how I dislike Dice). Also on the bill are the rather excellent Lello, more of them down under the Chop Chop video…
Here comes some Lello and some rather cinematic, sax-driven post-punk from South East London if you want a lazy one liner. Lello and Chop Chop also play together in Brighton, at the The Prince Albert on July 29th. Find more Lello via their Bandcamp page, including their excellent 2024 debut album that we really should have covered already.
“Lello gigs over the past few months have been a revelation and audiences have been knocked out by their strong tunes with strategic arrangements that make the trio sound dynamic and large. South East London noise at its best.” – Charles Hayward
Here, have some more Chop Chop…
