The countdown continues, we are just 15 days away from this year’s Art Car Boot Fair now, two weekends away from all the fun of the fair. Here’s the rather Unstoppable Jim Bob and his new single, Art, he of those pop artists Carter USM of course…
Art is Taken from one of two albums Jim Bob has just released, find it on his new album Stick. Available now along with the equally fine Automatic, the other album Jim Bob released this year. The Art video was made by the rather fine Happy Toast (and yes, we have just screengrabbed some of his art for this page). Find the two Jim Bob albums via www.cherryred.co.uk or www.carterusmstore.com/jim-bob. “HappyToast is one guy who does drawings and photoshops and animations and writes funny stuff. He’s been doing it for decades, which is why he’s so tired and grumpy. His work has appeared all over the world in print and on TV, for everyone from big name companies to nice, normal people…” Someone should invite him to the fair, he seems to fir with this year’s theme!

And to quote Fair founder Karen Ashton; “The Art Car Boot Fair is, as always, the sum of its parts – all of you artists and performers”. Here’s the art of five of them (or us, for I am one of the artists taking part again this year)
We have been counting down to this year’s fair on these pages, we will continue to count down to both the live event at Cubbitt Square on Saturday September 20th and the online version that follows a week afterwards…

We do tend to repeat ourselves when under stress, getting deeper into the countdown to this year’s London Art Car Boot Fair now. Always an important date on the London art calendar and a mere nineteen days to go now, it was twenty-five and before that it was twenty-nine or maybe thirty last time we checked on the (not quite so vile) countdown. We will continue to feature participating artists as we count down to the annual event that once again is happening at at Lewis Cubitt Square, Kings Cross. We did bring you the artist line back at the end of June although there’s probably been an artist or two added since then – The artist line up for one of the London Art Year’s highlights that is the Art Car Boot Fair has now been announced.
Here, while we carry on with the count down are five artists you can find either at the live event or taking part in the online event that happens a week later

1: Stanley Donwood‘s art is something we’ve been rather enjoying in recent years, Jealous Gallery will be bringing along some of his work to this year’s Fair, his recent collaborative shows with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke have been rather rewarding – “Logical Absurdity is the latest exhibition to come out of a now thirty-year artistic collaboration between Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood. For three decades now, the pair have worked together, creating a vast body of visual material for Radiohead’s album covers, books and other projects, a visual relationship that has continuously evolved a relationship that has recently seen them start to paint together, co-creating works on canvas, loosely around the notions of landscape, and most recently a rather intriguing departure into tapestries. This new exhibition upstairs at Number Nine features a series of screen prints, linocuts, lithographs and new acrylic paintings by Donwood aesthetic), “a suite of co-authored paintings and tapestries by Yorke and Donwood” and a rather fine almost positively naive painting called If I Ever Get Out by Tom Yorke”.

2: Pure Evil, a fair regular of course, has, as always, no doubt got his pop art production line in full operation for the fair. This is a one of his pieces for 2025 – Warming up for Art, Comedy & the Comic, the fair say they are “delighted to release the ‘Bunny Ha Ha’s’, a series of original Bunny tags from Pure Evil. Plus!!! There’s a brand new Tommy Cooper edition from Pure Evil up for grabs too; ‘Just Like That’!” The Ha Ha’s have jsut been released on the Art Car Boot Fair website

3: Emma Harvey will be revisiting a theme from last year’s fair and why not with the almost funny if they weren’t so serious antics of the Boys Club and J.D Vance still lurking and the orange idiot busy having tea with the tyrant from Russia while Nigel and his vile boys (and girls who have fallen for his self-serving crap) continue to manipulate people for their own ends amd as Mr Tate and his ways and his words seem rather acceptable to way way too many people.
Emma Harvey has produced these small in size but big in sentiment 7.5cm acrylic on canvas series especially for the Art Car Boot Fair September event(s). “Some feature my linocuts printed as backgrounds, others I’ve used glitter spray paint, and all of them are hand painted so each one is different and unique”. I do believe there are 43 of them. Emma Harvey’s Linktree

4: Susie Hamilton said via her social media that “The Art Car Boot Fair is coming. Its theme is Comedy and the Comic. Masqueraders, Carnival Processions, Bacchanalia, Shakespeare’s Comedy. Acrylic and oil on paper and board” as she gave us a flavour of her distinct style and what she might bring to the fun of the fair this year…

Here’s some words from Susie ahead of the 2023 fair…

5: Misha Milovanovich‘s art is always worth exploring, her shape, that form, this is a piece called Pinga, something created for a recent Kensington and Chelsea Art Week. Misha will be at the fair again

And I will be along with some of my own work again this year, far be it for me to blow my own trumpet though! (sw)

The 2025 Art Car Boot Fair is just 15 days away now – Earlybird tickets are (still) on sale now via the Fair’s website (do make sure you look at the Earlybird ticket option just underneath the regular tickets, earlybird tickets are £10, while £5 tickets that get you in later/cheaper are a little further down the page).
