Ni, the rather positively challenging musical beast from Bourg En Bresse, France have a new single on the way next week, a split single, is it the first of a series of split seven inch vinyl singles on their label Dur et Doux? The one eyed horse is never that clear Ni are a band who’ve figured rather a lot on our pages and airwaves over quite a few years now. A split that features something new from Ni and on the other side, something from a band called Vojdi from Prešov, Slovakia who’s website looks like it was made in 1992 and who sound like they might be a little bit too wacky for tastes around here but hey, give us a moment ot explore them properly. Need to explore it more, Here’s Vojdi’s Bandcamp and their most recent 2024 album and well, here’s the Bandcamp for the Split single…
“I am delighted to present the first split in a series produced by Dur & Doux entitled “Split & Doux.” The concept is simple: a band from the label releases a new track and invites another band to do the same. Volume 1 will be released on February 27 with Ni inviting Vojdi, a favorite they met on the road while touring Slovakia. This 45 rpm single accompanies Ni’s major tour of Europe and England” said the one-eyed horse…
“NI Formed in 2009 when bassist Benoît Lecomte, drummer Nicolas Bernollin, and guitarists François Mignot and Anthony Béard met, the knights who say “NI” have shared a collective imagination that is whimsical, wild, impertinent, and joyful for over 17 years. With two EPs and three albums under their belt, as well as hundreds of frenzied concerts throughout Europe and sometimes further afield, they have established themselves as a leading light of French experimental rock.
Power, exuberance, audacity, and finesse are all present in their latest single, Orbe, which will be released on a split 45 rpm record, accompanied by a track from the Slovakian band Vojdi (release date: February 27, 2026). Definitely worth seeing live in Europe in March 2026.
VOJDI create complex compositions with shifting patterns and unconventional rhythms, blending influences from math rock, prog rock, indie, and shoegaze. Their innovative style also fuses art rock and industrial with numerous experimental instrumental flourishes. Famous for its fragmented arrangements, the band’s music is imbued with a strong sense of self-deprecation“.
