Now this will more than do for today’s Organ Thing of The Day; Sleepytime Gorilla Museum have a new live video, a film of a performance of a piece from their 2007 album, Salt Crown as part of the 2025 Festival de Musique de Création in the CEM (Centre d’expérimentation musicale) venue located in Chicoutimi, Quebec.

Note from Museum’s Communication Dept: “This night in Saguenay, Quebec, was a high point for the band’s reunion. And we hope to release a full concert video in the coming year. It was also a farewell to our beloved Drummer Matthias Bossi, whose unparalleled musicality has shaped the band for much of its existence. Happily, though, the universe has presented us with another awesome drummer – Please welcome Wes Anderson. Of idiot flesh!”

Sleepytime Gorilla Museum are playing a run of US dates in late May, the dates are on their Instagram page, they were the best thing at ArcTanGent last year…

Hang on, we’re on a run here, the band just shared this, they are on such good form at the moment and this is something like how good it feels to be in the room with them these days, that ArcTangGent set from last year is still running around our heads and putting smiles on our faces…. Here they are performing at Headliners Music Hall in Louisville, KY back in May 2025…

Previously on these pages…

ORGAN THING: So ArcTanGent happened and how good was it! The extremes of the bands, the people, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Kayo Dot, the freedom of it all. Now that was how to do a music festival…

ORGAN: Our best 43 albums of another very musically busy 2024. Who did we rate? The Flying Luttenbachers, Extra life, Earth Ball, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Gazelle Twin, English Teacher, Slift, Uniform…

ORGAN THING: Sleepytime Gorilla Museum rocking against rock with Shinichi Iova-Koga…

ORGAN THING: Sleepytime Gorilla Museum’s new album reviewed. This gift is not like other gifts, this is a glorious return, more coherent maybe, a complex revivification indeed…

ORGAN THING: Free Salamander Exhibit let loose the first fruit of a new album, they are of course “4/5ths of the staff of the legendary Sleepytime Gorilla Museum”
