Slift, the mighty Slift as we are obliged to call them around here, one of the fineast bands around right, Slift have just said “our new album Fantasia will cross the mirror and hit your town via Sub Pop Records next June 5th!” This of course is very good news, we rather like Slift, of their previous album, their 2024 Sub Pop debut Ilion we said “this is massive, everything about Slift is massive, this is a towering album, exhilarating, more than that though, these songs are big…”

Slift go on to say “you can now preorder the record and other new artifacts via sliftrock.com.  In the meantime, we’re beyond excited to share with you A Storm of Wings, a song now available everywhere. Infinite love and respect to all of you who keep art alive. We’ll see you on tour, until then, watch your feet in this perilous world and follow the moths… A storm of wings is coming!”.

Here comes the first taste via Bandcamp… (other links should you choose)

Previously on these pages…

ORGAN: Five Music Things – Camille Camille, a sneaky bit of Slift’s epic prog, The Leaf Library and a classic bit of dreamy indie pop, Hen Ogledd and another impressive piece of their new album, Ronker and a little more from that just released album…

ORGAN: Our best 43 albums of another very musically busy 2024. Who did we rate? The Flying Luttenbachers, Extra life, Earth Ball, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Gazelle Twin, English Teacher, Slift, Uniform…

ORGAN THING: Slift at Camden’s Electric Ballroom – The materialisation of a rotating, cellular, hovering globe heralds their arrival – three mysterious silhouettes, backlit by this fourth presence…

ORGAN THING: This is massive, everything about Slift is massive, this is a towering album, exhilarating, more than that though, these songs are big. ‘Ilion’, the French Prog band’s Sub pop debut, isn’t just about…

From that 2024 album….
