ORGAN THING OF THE DAY? Them in a rat race, What are the DEATH SET up to? New Suede album? Tell them call the fire brigade because we smell some speaker burning. The new SUEDE album, then, seems to have everyone on a froth this morning, always left these ears feeling a little underwhelmed (beside the majestic Dog Man Star, how come that album was so good?). New album? Sounds like Suede by numbers, copycats, is it now impossible to be an original!? Suede reborn and rehashing their old albums will no doubt be more than enough for some, here it is if you want a taste of their Bowie-lite 80s damn it with faint praise indie pop. Never mind Bowie, go get some YOWIE! Yowie are vital, they will enhance your life, they’ll have you exclaiming!
Yowie are your Suede antidote….
What are the (Motherfuckin)´Death Set doing?
“Hello Good Peoples, We haven’t disappeared — it’s been a busy year in Brooklyn and we’ve got some big news! We’re really pleased to announce we’ve signed to Dim Mak Records. Look forward to the release of our new EP, King Babies this Spring 2013. Also, keep your eyes out for the awesome horror flick V/H/S (2012) and its sequel V/H/S II (2013), featuring music by The Death Set. You may have also heard us on television in the new Google Chrome commercial. It’s super strange to hear ourselves in theaters and on primetime television, but don’t worry, still coupled with some warehouse shows to no one:)”
Years in the making, the video for “I Miss You Beau Velasco” off our 2011 record “Michel Poiccard” (Ninja Tune / Counter Records) is finally complete.
“It would be impossible to make a video that would completely encapsulate our love for our lost band mate and friend Beau Velasco. He was an inspiration to us and to so many. The process was extremely difficult, yet one we had to embark upon. It is very important to us that he be remembered.. We asked as many people as possible that were close to Beau if they would like to appear in the video. So many friends and family from all over the world took part, from The Gold Coast and Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles, Baltimore and New York City. Artists and musicians you may recognize include Spank Rock, XXXChange, Santigold, Japanther, Best Fwends, Roofeeo (TV on the Radio / The Death Set), High Places, Dan Deacon, Trouble Andrew and Vice Cooler (XBRX).
We can post it Dancehall style if we want, if them don’t like it them call the fire brigade
Stylo G – Soundbwoy
Soundbwoy isn’t out for a couple of months, here’s the advance hype… “Reggae’s man of the moment Stylo G is back! Fresh from a string of hits including the underground smash of 2012 “Call Mi A Yardie”, as well as “Winter Swag” and Jodie Connor’s “Talk”, his latest offering is “Soundbwoy” – a reggae-tinged masterpiece that’s guaranteed to get dancefloors jumping and radio audiences skanking. “Soundbwoy” is the first release from Stylo G since he signed to 3Beat Records, the specialist Urban/Dance label behind the recent success of artists such as Skepta, Sway, Duck Sauce and Matrix & Futurebound. Production comes from hot new Dutch talent Diztortion who counts super-producers Chuckie and Giorgio Tunifort as mentors and who recently collaborated with Lethal Bizzle. Look out for the amazing remix from top Jamaican producer Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor – son of reggae icon Freddie McGregor”
