ORGAN THINGS: SAVE THE SOUTHBANK SKATEPARK, BOLLOX TO THE ROLLING STONES and last call for PAKPOOM SILAPHAN..

THINGS? Deep in bat country? He hasn’t got a clue has he. All in what together? In times like these it is more important than ever to be creative

So they, whoever the hell they are. are going to close the skateboard park on the London Southbank, down by the Thames, just along from Tate Modern, by the Queen Elisabeth hall and the other arts flavoured spaces…. The skateboarders are up in arms, they’re rightly upset….

“The proposal to move the skate park means it is not regarded as equally important as the other cultural facilities at Southbank, we are being marginalised”

Let me just say, It isn’t just about skateboarding, I have absolutely no interest in skateboarding, always loved this place though. Keeping it where is is vitally important to our culture in so so many ways, the art and the history there is as important and anything in any gallery on the Southbank. The skatepark, the ever evolving colour on the walls and everything else needs to stay just where it is for EVERYONE to enjoy. it is one of the most important parts of the Southbank, it is a very important piece of ever evolving art, it does not need to be moved, hidden or anything else, it belongs to all of us and we like it where it is. We don’t need more shops, we have plenty of them already, we want our culture, our art, our places…. LEAVE THE SKATEPARK WHERE IT IS FOR EVERYONE, SKATERS AND NON SKATERS!

There’s a petition here, never sure if these things work as much as publicity and noise, go sign it anyway, then go spread the word, make some noise. Enough of gentrification, enough of shops we can’t afford to go it, enough of elitism, enough!
