THING OF THE DAY:  A new NICK CAVE video awaits your exploration

The new video for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ upcoming new single “Mermaids” is an excerpt from the band’s recent performance earlier this year at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on February 21st. Shot at the US launch show for the band’s universally acclaimed new album Push The Sky Away, “Mermaids” was directed by UK artists Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard for LoveLive Productions. This special live video of “Mermaids” can be viewed from May 7th

“Mermaids” – the third track to be taken from Push The Sky Away (their fifteenth studio album, charting at number one in seven countries) will also be released as a single package on May 20th (for digital download only). The Mermaids single package includes a studio version, along with a live version recorded at the band’s German album-launch show at Admiralspalast in Berlin on 13th February 2013, as well as two additional non-album tracks — “Needle Boy” and “Lightning Bolts” — both recorded during the Push The Sky Away sessions last summer at La Fabrique studio in the South of France. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have also confirmed that they will be performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, marking the fourth time the band has appeared at the festival (having played there previously in 1994, 1998 and 2009). Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Push The Sky Away (A short film) directed by Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard will be premiered on Sky Arts from 19th May (23:15) and then again on 23rd May (12:45); 27th May (01:15) and 15th June (16:15).
