fpptvikkagealbumwebTen musical things you really should have explored in 2013. Only our opinion mind, part one, five for today, and maybe another five tomorrow if the wind is blowing in the right direction and the rabbits haven’t eaten all the cake. of course if you’re happy with that Arctic monkeys album NME tell us is album of the year then fine fine fine…

Here come five in no particular order (for there never is any order here….)

L.A’s FOOT VILLAGE made memories in 2013 with their relentless Make Memories album, four drummers, two of them handling vocals, who says it always has to be done the same way?

London’s rather impressive GODZILLA BLACK impressed us (as well as impressing a lot of other people) with their impressive album The Great Terror this year. Impressive…

….

.

….

DEATH GRIPS showed no sign of relenting in 2013, the Sacramento outfit threw out an album called Government Plates towards the end of the year, an album that made us love our own pillbox hats even more than we did the year before….

……

Kathleen Hanna’s new band THE JULIE RUIN have history on their side now, their rather inspiring debut album Run Fast came out in 2013, the New York band have just announced some UK dates for May 2014…. .

..

….

And while we’re here, here’s some MELVINS for you, a year is always enhanced by a blast of new Melvins…. And he hasn’t worked since 1989, now that is success!

And a touch more Godzilla Black….

GODZILLA BLACK
