“Elegiac/triumphal; epic/intimate; shambolic/measured” is how Los Angeles Instrumental five-piece Whale Fall describe themselves. In those few words they have it just about right – well maybe not shambolic, they do sound rather measured, they make a rich beautiful sound. I guess if we were to be lazy we’d talk of post rock trumpets and warm textures and the glow of sound, no need for words here though, all there in the music.
