ORGAN THING: Pure Evil’s new London show, The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, and a glorious band called Bukkake Moms….

pureevil_lonewcastleThursday, a quick dive in to have a look at the Pure Evil show that opened last night at the great big Londonewcastle space on Redchurch Street,  deepest Shoreditch, East London .  Kind of unexpected variation and a little bit of a left field diversion from the man. The show is called The Temple of Broken Hearts, all carps and dragons and lilies, lotus flowers in Sri Lanka, monks, nirvana, dragons from the descendant of Sir Thomas More (the things you learn reading the blurb), apparently Pure Evil has inherited his ancestor’s fascination with dystophia.

…. and in the second room, a box load of bunnies, or Bunnies on boxes, pop art mass production and something a little more familiar from the far from evil artist…

The Pure Evil show runs at the Londonewcastle space until Sunday 21st June. Pure Evil will also be one of the artists at this year’s Brick Lane Art Car Boot Fair alongside Tracy Emin, Peter Blake, Ben Eine, Gavin Turk, Emma Harvey, and about sixty of seventy more.

And well were rushing around painting dogs and leaves and Vauxhalls, here’s three rather wholesome slices of music that passed through here today. We liek Pure Evil, we like his style, and we rathr like that we didn’t expect to see dragons…..

1: THE BASTARD SONS OF JOHNNY CASH

.

From: Austin, Texas,, The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash are the voice and vision of songwriter Mark Stuart. Since forming the band in 1995, he’s performed with most every major artist in the Country and Americana music community. Stuart was personally given permission to use the band’s name by Johnny Cash himself.

He was also honored by the Man in Black with an invitation to record songs at Cash’s own home in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Two other iconic music legends, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, were also early believers who were instrumental in helping Stuart get his start.

.

2: BUKKAKE MOMS, from Denton, Texas, they are not a Built to Spill covers band!
