Some days you may find an in-depth review or feature and far too many opinionated words and photos, some days it may news and opinion that dances around the architecture of music or art or like today a cut ‘n paste signpost that takes you to something interesting like Kitty Finer’s bar….
Now this looks like it might be worth exploring, “Kitty Finer presents Artists Behind Bars”; a group show at London’s Horse Hospital on Friday 29th January (doors are at pm, entry is free, donations are “welcome and encouraged”)
Kitty Finer presents Artists Behind Bars; a group show, where for one night shift only – the bar is the work of art, the artist is the bartender and the spectator is the punter. X Marks the Bökship, Kitty Finer, Marcia Farquhar, Jane Howard and Tai Shani will be building, installing, hosting and running their own bars. The Horse Hospital will be home to this collection of one night only bars – creating a total installation within the space that is one of central London’s last bastions of independent, experimental and DIY culture.
Long before the term “pop up” popped up, Kitty’s many and various makeshift shops, bars and galleries have appeared under the influence of interim inventions, the oftentimes illicit social spaces of raves, fiestas, carnivals and beach bars.
Artists Behind Bars brings together artists who share an interest in spontaneous structures of hospitality and the (part-time) role of bartending. Each artist/bartender will have a 40 minute slot to select their chosen playlist/DJ or live performer. All bars and drinks will vary. Cash only bars – all profit goes to the Horse Hospital.
