John Lee Bird, back for a sixth time? Will it be the last one? He said it would be but then he also said there’s always one more person he really needs to paint. The Before Encore series of paintings has been evolving for something like ten years now and the sixth exhibition happens in West London in June, back at The 20th Century Theatre over in Westbourne Grove, London W1 (the scene of one of the prolific artist’s previous triumphs). The latest paintings in the series of rather large pop art flavoured portraits has been capturing the beautiful people of London’s clubs, galleries and more, the beautiful people who come out at night captured in bold colour and sharp line, glorious documentation of a slice or two of colourful London underculture from one of the cities more exciting artists.
