Organ Thing of The Day? Well it really isn’t a case of oh dear, and Adam Curtis seems to be flavour of the week this week, and why not, let it go viral, let it go mainstream, let if all fly. This from the very end of 2014 is well worth re-visiting today, contemporary art? Doing what? Do wish Mr Curtis wasn’t so damn believable…
Here have some Little Steven….
And why is there never any good live footage of Little Steven? His studio albums are a little flat and almost boring and every live thing I look at and listen to on social media comes nowhere neat touching the tape I have of the only time I ever saw him, a gig at Reading Festival when he just blew the whole place away. The Disciples Of Soul were brilliant that day, easily one of the best live performances I have even been lucky enough to be at and the tape I have still has that magic so I know I’m not imagining it, but there’s nothing on youtube or anywhere else that comes anywhere near. This is being said today because Little Steven just announced his first UK headline show since 1990 and what a Dilemma, its at the 02 Arena thing, never been there but surely it is going to be a hateful soulsucking place and surely it would be awful but it is Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul and they were so so so good that evening, same year as Big Country played, and on just before Thin Lizzy’s last emotional stand, now that was a festival…..
“Little Steven To Play First UK Headline Show Since 1990 – Longtime Bruce Springsteen collaborator and star of The Sopranos Steven Van Zandt to perform first London show for over 25 years American musician, record producer and actor Steven Van Zandt, AKA Little Steven, is the final act confirmed for this year’s BluesFest, which takes place at The O2 in London from October 28th – 30th. Van Zandt brings his band Little Steven & The Disciples Of Soul to indigo at The O2 on Saturday October 29th for what will be the band’s only European show of the year.A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Van Zandt co-founded Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes and is perhaps best known as a longstanding member of Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street Band but also gained worldwide notoriety playing Silvio Dante in the award-winning HBO series The Sopranos”
I don’t know, is this going to be awful? Surely something are best left alone, old bands, old gigs, giant gigs in soulless corporate venues? Fake worlds? Under The Gun? Solidarity? Little Steven? Sopranos? The O2?
