ORGAN PREVIEW: Deep Trash from Outer Space, live performances, installations, artworks, visuals, videos

Two things, both probably almost certainly from outer space, both happening in London this week and featuring live performances, installations, artworks, visuals, videos.  This week CUNTemporary brings you two unique events dedicated to sci-fi & speculative fiction with the Live Art and Cyborg Body conference on Thursday 20 October and the live art & club night Deep Trash From Outer Space on Saturday 22nd October

Saturday brings you a one night only exhibition-cum-performance-club-night featuring live performances, installations, artworks, visuals, videos and short films spread over 3 floors by over 40 artists in East London’s Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club. #deeptrashspace

Live performances start at 8pm and include: BRAIN SURGERY sessions by Sofi Lee-Henson, a DISCOEGG ALIEN birth by Sandra Boom, future-telling sessions by Elena Poka, STRIPPERS IN SPACE by Amy Statik and crimson MOONSCAPES by Inanna Trillis. Our spacecraft is collecting artists from around the world including Heidi Hörsturz with their cyber-sonic TRASH-ATTACKS, and Quimera Rosa’s lab will present ELECTRO-EROTIC body-noise for the first time in London. All the way from Berlin, via Ibiza and New York, we present you with BayBJane, the world’s smallest BIONIC DRAG queen.

Before Saturday’s event, LIVE ART AND THE CYBORG BODY happens on Thursday 20th October at Goldsmiths University

The conference Live Art and the Cyborg Body pulls together an international and multidisciplinary group of artists and academics who explore the idea of the cyborg in its most expanded forms within their practice or research. Working between the boundaries of the natural and the artificial, the social and the virtual, the private and the public, the speakers discuss how these polarized sites have been used as a tool to rigorously and creatively engage with self-representation, by re-imagining and destabilising gender norms, sexual politics, racial paradigms, physical (dis)abilities, health, our relationship to death and the occult.
Presentations by BayB Jane, FoxGlove & Pure Venom, Lizzie Masterton, Oreet Ashery, Quimera Rosa, Victoria Sin and Head of Department and Professor of Theatre & Performance Studies at Roehampton University Dr. Jennifer Parker-Starbuck. #liveartcyborg
