ORGAN: Five Music Things – Patrick Shiroishi, he of Upsilon Acrux, the mysteriously named ^L_, more Nick Hudson, Aloric, more from Palberta’s Lily Konigsberg and…

The Five music thing again for whatever it might be worth? Five? Again? Already? Five more? Do we need a new editorial yet? Is there a point? Is there any point? Was there ever? What do points make? What is the point? Again and again and again (and again). Five more, same as last time (and the time before) five more musical things and yeah, we did say all this last week and the weeks before and blah blah blah while the whole world window and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding and all that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter and like we did ask last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? Cut to the chase, we could just cut ‘n paste the editorial from the last time, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and cut to the damn chase, who needs an editorial? Who needs any of this? Who needs it, who needs it, who really needs any of this? Cynical who? Same what every day? Here’s your five, or maybe six of seven…

1: Patrick Shiroishi, he of Upsilon Acrux and (many) other things, saxophone player in Corima, Upsilon Acrux, Nakata, In The Womb, Oort Smog, Sunreader, Danketsu 10, Kogarashi & Borasisi and who know who else? Patrick has a new solo album on the way, here’s an early taste and you do know how much we just like to let the music do the talking there says (or even these days, don’t come here demand we proof read). Do rather like this quote though –

This is a gentle attempt at a Looney Tunes/Carl Stalling type of thing, where we’re getting a 1 to 1 fraudulent representation on screen of the sounds we hear. a tiptoeing porky pig sounds like a xylophone ascending. A puppet shaking an ancient bowl sounds like this.” – Dylan Pecora

And here’s the ever bital Bandcamp. Expect t ohear more on airwaves and on these pages and succh…

2: ^L_ – Earlier this year The Brazilian artist known as ^L_ delivered a massive EP on Berlin based label Antime Records, we did mean ro mention it when it originally came out back in the summer but hey, you know, a million zillion things flowing our way and the price of fish and there’s never enough hours in the day. A reminder just came our way and we do like the complexity of his latest work

“On his third solo release for the label and network ANTIME, Luis Fernando distills global, national and personal turmoil in a two-track EP flanked by a remix by the Brasilia-based artist Quizzik. »The Skull« follows up on a collaborative release by Fernando and label founder Martin Steer a.k.a. Bad Stream in 2019 and sees the producer known as ˆL_ eschewing the four-to-the-floor techno sound to which he had devoted himself in recent times for something more complex. Both the title track and »Terror Turbo« pick up on conventional dance music tropes but twist and turn them until something entirely new emerges. It is music marked by a sense of destruction, alienation and dystopia, the themes that informed the making of the record… more via Bandcamp

3: Nick Hudson – More from “one of Brighton’s finest singer-songwriters” – Nick Hudson (frontman of The Academy of Sun is back with his new ‘K69996ROMA:EP’, which will be released on September 15, i guess that date has already paseed now but hey, release dates never bothered us? Not since the days of….

4: Aloric – New single ‘Poor Classes / Pour Glasses’ by London-based Aloric! “Drawing influence from James Blake, Radiohead, Björk, Sigur Rós and Anohni” so says whoever sent it in. More information, simple as that, bang, sorted, you have the music, you have the link, what more do you want for us? One of the recommended five… .

5: Lily Konigsberg – “Sweat Forever” is another track from Lily Konigsberg’s new solo album Lily recently shared (and we featured) “That’s The Way I Like It”, the first single from her album Lily We Need To Talk Now, and today she follows it up with the delightful “Sweat Forever”. She says: “‘Sweat Forever’ was the first song successfully recorded for the album. It’s mostly about the bad part of going through a huge change in your life and the confusion surrounding that. But now I’m in the good part, so there’s something to celebrate. Sweat on brother!“. The details of the album and loads more information can be found on the Bandcamp page. As we’ve said before, Lily has a solo album on the way, she’s already released a new album with her excellent band Palberta this year, as well as a number of other things, she is productive, pro-active, whatever she’s doing she’s always worth checking out…

And while we’re here, in case of sonic attack, can’t help but like this, not quite like the silver push bike Mr Calvert told us about, would their silver machine fly side ways through time? Is this the spirit of the age? Fine fine cover…

And while we’rw thinking about those Hawks….
