Hang on, Izz, where did they come from? Something that went by on our social media feed the other day if you must know. That first song sounds like classic someone or other, who is it!? Ben Folds Five shouts someone from the corner, and yes, it does indeed. A Ben Folds namedrop should of course be taken as a big compliment, we could mention Gentle Giant as well…

“IZZ is pleased to present the first 5 tracks for our new project, The Endless Collection. This project will feature an ever-growing collection of new songs from IZZ as they are completed”. Izz, we don’t have to do that annoying writing the band’s name in capitals thing that seems to be fashionable at the moment do we? Izz (or IZZ) are from New York, they happily talk of prog rock, they seem to have quite a back catalogue, these latest five songs kind of say rather a lot, a fine introduction, if like us, you don’t already know the band. Prog Rock as we’ve been saying for years, is as cool as flip, the last great musical taboo, the Izz take on it is a rather clean cut modern one, most of the time I prefer my prog cutting and slashing, I like it with dirty edges and rides to Epping Forest or plagued by Lightouse Keepers, I like a bit of attitude, there is something rather refined about Izz though and that track 42 is a rather excellent one, worth checking them out for that one alone…
