ORGAN THING: There’s a delight to Knekklectric and their cleverly complex sound, a delight to their very easy on the ear progressive rock…

Knekklectric – Alt blir verre (Apollon Records) – This one kind of quietly sneaks in, you’re kind of enjoying it, thinking to yourself, yes, this is rather nice, this is enjoyable, this is smooth, clever, this will more than do without really noticing that they suddenly have you soaring, that they lift you right up there, thast they’ve taken you on several glorious flights. Knekklectric are from Bergen, Norway, they’re very very easy on the ear, this album came out back in April, once again this is a bit of end of year book-keeping and us catching up on things that should have been covered on these fractured pages months ago (sorry). We really can’t end the year without covering this very (very) fine album (it has been played lots and lots on our Other Rock Show, they’re probably one of the most played bands on radio the show in 2022). And there they go again, soaring with Red Bil and actually, every track here, every piece of cleverly crafted warn-hearted music, is rather wonderful. There’s a delight to Knekklectric and their cleverly complex sound, a delight to their very easy on the ear progressive rock, I know they’re from Norway, but is there a rather healthy hint of that very English 70’s Canterbury sound to them? Was that bit there rather mid 70’s Genesis flavoured? Hatfield And The North maybe? Caravan? All good things of course, and yes, importantly, they do have a signature all of their own.

“Knekklectric play clever progressive rock/fusion with devious lyrics sung in the Ålesund dialect. Knekklectric received much praise after releasing their second album in the winter of 2017. Now they are out with their third album Alt blir verre“,

There isn’t really a standout track, they’re all rather good but 1992 is so so cheering, so so uplifting, so positively refreshing, apparently the album title is English is Everything Gets Worse – “but this time the arrangements are bigger and more intricate, and the lyrics are darker” – we really have no idea what they’re singing about, surely it can’t be that dark? This is like walking down a twisty country path where more of the view is revealed with each little turn, They have it all just right, the complex adventure, the easiness of it all, the delight, the beautiful flow….
