Where were we, knee deep in art shows and curation and over in Crystal Palace and no, that was last time, this time we were kneedeep in broken eyeballs and still no time for Organgrinding and listening to new music, we’re kind of back now though and never mind nothing, on with the music and what we said last time or last week or last year, you’ve read all this already, never mind the damn editorial, never mind the biscuits or the dogfish, just jump down past this editorial, who needs an editorial? Jump past and let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing again, another five (or so) slices of musical things that have passed our way recently and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of apples and here comes the intro, Don’t be flippant she said, how could it ever be flippant?

Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Do we need to do the editorial bit again? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying rabbits out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Snake oil? Everything must go and same as last time (and the time before that) five, and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and cut cut slash and cut it, who needs an editorial or words or worms in general? What’s Wordsworth? Just facts and links and sounds then. Here you go, play the music, grab your five, eat your greens, go eat some art, go eat some fresh music and don’t forget whatever it was we said last time…

Here we go again, same as last time, in no particular order, starting somewhere out there in london (via Manchester) this time

1: Kiran Leonard – “Sprawling art rock by Kiran Leonard on new single Pass Between Houses from new album Real Home + headline UK tour in May” so reads the headline. Certainlyintriguing (excellent video, cut so well to the music), the album Real Home is out 17th April 2024 via Memorials of Distinction, which means we shall have t oget on te case this weekend….

‘Real Home’ is the new album by the Manchester-born, London-based artist Kiran Leonard. His sixth album proper (not including innumerable tour-only CD-Rs and short-run cassettes), since his precocious debut in 2013, ‘Real Home’ finds Leonard invigorated by inspiration and experience, making passionate, literate, and mercurial music that explores displacement, love, memory, climate change, connections to home and more….”. We’ll be back with more in a moent, here’s a Linktree loaded with links

2: Throwaway – Do we really need an excuse to post a Throwaway video. All the way from Detroit Rock City, this is from last yewar, it jsut got nominasted for some award or othe, or maybe in won sme award or other, but we don’t need that as an excuse to post it again do we?

Bandcamp

3: Bad Breeding – In an age of nothing yet man says this just another blog, I kind of wonder why he’s so bothered then, just ticking box and punching the clock for the head Flux. Nothing important to see or hear here then. meanwhile rather excellent Stevenage old school with a new twsit hardcore bands aere up to something or other on One Little Whatever, a record label who’ve had pages and pages of coverage as well as airplay out of us over several decades now. Contempt is the word, or maybe the name of the new Bad Breeding album that;s on the way soon but hey, hey, yer man says he hasn’t got the time and this is just another music blog, he’s probably right

Bandcamp is where you find more details…

4: Matt Hunter and the Dusty Fates – Maybe it has soemthing to d owith the sun being out and the tree outside all green and happy and looking nothing like it did only last week. Glorious Saturday morning in sunmny East London and this just sounds breezy . “Music video for Story of a Supergroup, the single by Matt Hunter and the Dusty Fates, from their album “Reindeer Soul,” out May 31 on Dromedary Records“. These Five Music Things pages are mostly about nothing more than gathering things together, presenting them to you and giving you the links, simple as that.

5: Karyn Kuhl – and Matt Hunter kind of took us to label mate Karyn Kuhl and her new just released single. never heard of Karyn before, the second track is delicious, a slow burning classic, in fact a treat of a b-side. This is actually a classic seven inch single, excellent Aside and a treat of a B-side, really need this on a seen inch, I don’t want to be listening ot it on line, well I do because both tracks a excellent but this is a proper seven inch single that i need ot have in my hand, I need ot go to a record shop just to buy it, the whole beautiful ritual She leads a classic three piece, obscure of me but the A-side No Traces reminds me of the much loved Fay Ray, it sounds like an excellent single you’d have bought in Cob Records in the 80s, that’s a lush keyboard underneath it all and here comes the second track again. Hang on, sop the bus, we know Karyn, there’s a Sexpod album on the shelf over there, we’ve covered her music before, been a while and good old Doctor Google, did we see them, did we interview them or did we just ravce about the album, th 90s are a blur now. Sexpod were from New Jersey so I guess that is where Karyn Kuhl is from? The Sexpod album, a mini album actually, came out on Go Kart back in 1994. Watch this space, we have soem gaps to fill…
