“Watch the latest Session from Gagosian in which musicians Kim Gordon and Bill Nace, performing as the experimental electric guitar duo Body/Head, play an original composition inside “Jim Shaw: Thinking the Unthinkable” at the gallery in Beverly Hills, with an additional backdrop of slowed-down film footage. In this performance, the band explores the unexpected found in Shaw’s paintings, juxtaposing repetitive chords and note patterns with lengthy passages of evolving distortion. The result is a wall of noise flecked with surprising moments of melodic and emotional resonance”

After meeting in Northampton, Massachusetts, in 2011, Gordon and Nace formed Body/Head the following year, establishing their predilection for slow, droning songs accompanied by monotone vocals that contribute to a dense but tightly focused sound. In this performance, the band explores the unexpected found in Shaw’s paintings, juxtaposing repetitive chords and note patterns with lengthy passages of evolving distortion. The result is a wall of noise flecked with surprising moments of melodic and emotional resonance.
