Shall we write a new editorial now? Oh the endless demand and who needs a damn editorial let alone a new one? No time for editorials, let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing again, another five (or so) slices of music that have passed our way recently and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of oranges and here comes the editorial. Don’t be flippant she said, how could it ever be flippant? I can’t remember why she said that now, in one ear, out the other. We have a bad attitude here apparently, no respect for those who work in the music industry, well no poop Sherlock, have you only just worked that one out?

Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying haddocks out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Snake oil? Everything must go and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, skip this bit, there’s loads of music further down the page, well five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? Just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need from us?

Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start with something from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania…

1: Cringe Fantasy have a new EP, a second EP and a follow up to the recent debut from the band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Something to do with the world’s forgotten toy as we search to destroy here or there or now or whatever it was. Here and now, floating anarchy, who knows what. Nice bit of dub for that second track and here’s a few scribbled lines, just with a pencil, this tune in a menace, exotically flavoured in there with the struggle and stress…

2: Frankie and the Witch Fingers – For what any of this is worth? Actually what is it worth? I don’t know? For what any of it might be worth here’s something new from the ever vital Frankie and the Witch Fingers, more of that new wave garage whatever it is that the L.A band do so damn well. They have a new album out any moment, Trash Classic, out on June 6th to be supper precise about it, here’s a jsut released track and well….

“Today, influential Los Angeles psychedelic punk rockers Frankie and the Witch Fingers have shared “Dead Silence,” the latest single from their new album Trash Classic (June 6, 2025 // The Reverberation Appreciation Society / Greenway Records). An official video accompanies the track – watch HERE. The band has also prepared an announcement that’s sure to thrill fans in London, New York City and Los Angeles – the week leading up to the release of Trash Classic will see them perform at intimate venues in each city. On May 30, the band will perform at London’s Shacklewell Arms, before returning to America for shows at New York City’s Berlin on June 5 and Permanent Records Roadhouse in Los Angeles on June 7

Here’s what we said about the last time we encounted them in East London – ORGAN THING: L.A’s Frankie And The Witch Fingers hit Hackney and Mid Summer with some seriously proper locked-on psyched-up garage rock and roll…

Actually there’s been lots of coverage on these fractured pages for what any of any of this is worth. Why? What’s wordsworth? What is it all worth? More – www.frankieandthewitchfingers.com and don’t wanna choke on a cordless phone and yeah, we can’t clutter up our way too important pages, no exit here….

3: Lifeguard – A piece of music taken from the Chicago, Illinois band’s new album Ripped and Torn, (out June 6th on Matador Records). “The youthful trio of Asher Case, Isaac Lowenstein, and Kai Slater have been making music together since they were in high school, nearly a quarter of their lives. Noisy and immediate, cryptic but heartfelt, they draw inspiration from punk, dub, power-pop and experimental sounds, and bring them all together in explosive inspiration”.

4: The Sick Man Of Europe – Taken from the eponymous debut album by The Sick Man Of Europe – out 20th June 2025 and now I guess you need some more information about the Sick Man, ah but do you really? Isn’t the crisp music enough? Got a great big press release here and some links and here’s the Bandcamp and of course with a name like that the Sick Man is from London.

“The debut album by The Sick Man Of Europe – a study on the tensions between human identity, technological advancement and the pursuit of meaning in the modern world. At what point do we become obsolete?”

5: Activity and a second rather impressive piece of music from the New York band’s forthcoming album, find the first and more details here – ORGAN: Five Music Things – New Gina Birch trouble, Suzanne Rhatigan and a song not heard before around these parts, a Midwife b-side, New York’s Activity, Man/Woman/Chainsaw have a new single, John Cale, Sunflower Bean and that’s five right?
