The 2026 Art Car Boot Fair date and details have just been announced, always a highlight in terms of the London art calendar, almost, as we said last year, defiantly so these days. The theme of the long-standing fair this year is Play Free and the date is Saturday September 5th 2026, once again it all happens under the shadow of the towers at Lewis Cubitt Square, Kings Cross.  

“Our Play Free theme is inspired by our belief in the importance of creative freedom and for artists to be able to play freely with ideas and inspirations for their work. We are open to debate and discussion, not to censorship or fear of cancellation or expression. The Art Car Boot Fair has always been and will always be a safe space for artists to let their hair down and try out new ideas. Plus, it’s good for you! Engagement with the arts is scientifically proven to slow biological ageing by reducing inflammation and stress and lengthening our telomeres (the protective cap at the end of our chromosomes). Tickets are on sale now, it happens on Saturday September 5th 2026, from midday until 6pm. £10 entry, reduced price after 3pm

“Come play with us, open to art barter and chat”, only £10 in but do be aware, there is limited capacity, grab your tickets. It is an event, it isn’t just an art fair, it isn’t just a load of art stalls although that is a big part of it, all the art and the direct interaction with the artists, the Art Cat Boot Fair prices, there are other things though, the performances, the, the food, bars,the music, the excellent people watching (star spotting), the antics…

Meanwhile in the 100 day run up to the day and the live event,  there is 100 x 100; 100 artists have been invited to Play Free and create work especially for the event, these works will be on sale for £100 or less on the day. We’re also told there will be another 20 artists offering playful engagements on the day…

Also in the 100 day lead up, and I guess we are 100 days away with these announcements being made today, a work will be added everyday to the Art Car Boot Fair on line shop  These new works will all be prices at £100 or less and and as new works are added, previous works will become unavailable “so don’t dilly dally” – What Instagram for daily updates and get onthe Art Car Boot Fair for weekly updates….

The every evolving Art Car Boot Fair has always been a fun day, as an artist it always exciting to be invited to take part in it. Some of us have been doing it since the start back at the beginning of this century, others will be joining for the first time, like I said, ever evolving…
