Shall we write a new editorial? Who needs a damn editorial let alone a new one? Who needs Organ for that matter? Brave said yer man. No time for editorials, let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking while we play catch up with it all now we’ve got those three Cardiacs bits out of the way. Exact same thing as last time once again, another five (or so) slices of music that have passed our way recently cherry picked for your delight and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of pears and here comes the editorial.
Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying swordfish out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Cake oil? Snake oil? Everything must go somewhere and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing, we never should have done and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, skip this bit, there’s music further down the page, five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? Just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need from us?
Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start with something from Pilsen, Czechia…

1: Ida The Young – this is quite simply a rather beautiful new single from a forthcoming album from a band called Ida The Young, a band from Pilsen, Czechia. This rather fine song, that touches on a lot of things, is from a new album that we haven’t heard yet; “After two EPs and several singles this year we are releasing our debut full-length album. Tell Me When You Pass The Sun. These nine new songs will be released on November 5th 2025 on the Ostrava-based label Korobushka Records”.
And here’s a previous release from early this year that really makes us want to hear more of Ida The Young…
And there’s some beautiful moments on this EP from last January, especially the closing song My Stars…
2: James Adrian Brown – “Today James Adrian Brown, former Pulled Apart By Horses guitarist, announces his debut solo album ‘Forever Neon Lights‘ out Jan 30th via Castles In Space. After achieving chart success, touring the world, and releasing four critically acclaimed studio albums with PABH, Brown has begun paving a new path in instrumental electronic music and composition. New single “Generator” is online now and Brown will be touring the UK and Ireland throughout November”. Here’s the new piece of music and here’s his website and dates and more…
“Generator is also available as a limited CD EP this Friday, Oct 31st, featuring exclusive remixes from Warrington Runcorn New Town Development Plan, James Welsh, Werra Foxma and Field Lines Cartographer”. I imagine it will show up on Bandcamp or somewhere user friendly sometime in the next few days, here’s his website.
3: Lene Lovich – here’s some rather excellent Lene Lovich footage from earlier this month posted by In The Round podcast who say; “Here is Lene Lovich performing one of her hit singles from the early 80s, New Toy. You may recognize the signature talents of Thomas Dolby who was in her band at the time and wrote this song. Lene is backed by her U.S. based bandmates (which includes host D on keyboards!) and they’re currently touring the States opening for Devo and The B-52’s. It’s been over 35 years since she’s toured here and the reception has been incredible! Fans are delighted to see Lene live again – and you can see why from this performance. Her authenticity, eccentricity, and energetic stage presence keeps audiences hooked. Long live the 80s!”
Meanwhile over Buffalo, New York…
4: Spaced – Now this bites, “Buffalo, NY hardcore upstarts, Spaced recently joined the Pure Noise Records roster and today they’ve released their new EP, No Escape. These five songs are packed with stomping riffs and psych-tinged aggression that offer a perfect introduction to Spaced’s unique brand of self-proclaimed “far out hardcore,” showcasing both the swirling textures and eye-bulging ferocity that define the group”. Although, I will say to me, Hardcore was always a way of thinking and doing as much as was (and is) a sound, so it does bother me when the only links they offer are to bloody Spotify and Musk’s X network, come on bands, wise up! Great sound but how did it come to this? Why do I need to go ask a search engine if they have something like a Bandcamp page, something not run by a right wing arsehole like Elon? Damn fine sound though, we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and hope they wise up a tiny bit in terms of the links and where they park their music, hey Spaced, close down yer X page and take yerselves to Bluesky or we migh get the idea you like Elon and his mates. Here’s the band’s Bandcamp
5: Minot – Well they’re certainly raw and cheap, I like that. “We are garage-punk muffins at heart and love all things raw and cheap”, said Miss Saltine. Minot are Missoula Montana.
“The garage punk muffins, Minot, introduce their split personality of a release from the duo songwriters, Chicken Wing and Miss Saltine. Side A contains the song Walls, complete with fuzz bass and haunting lyrics about windowless work settings. While Side B brings People Pleaser, the 60s Pop-tart of a song sung from the perspective of the undesirable and backed by a single coil pickups complete with church organ. Both songs are framed by the stand-up drummer, Junior Mint, sporting fragments of a dismantled floor tom and snare” and that description kind of tells it just as it is, we really don’t need to add anything more, a two sided proper old school seven inch that does it just right, a 60s flavoured lo-fi Psychedelic fuzztone of a garage pop nugget… Bandcamp / links
And while we’re here, a classic piece of Hawkwind and some tasty bass playing goodness and from where I come from it always makes me smile…
“I have created this video from available video footage and photos of Hawkwind paired with remastered audio of the Cleveland 1974 gig. I have boosted the bass frequencies to the benefit of the drums and the bass to give the audio a better balance. The instrumentation is sparse throughout, this song absolutely relies on Lemmy and Simon King. The rest of the band add beautiful accents but the rhythm section drive this one. This is to my mind the definitive Hawkwind version of The Watcher. Lemmy nails this performance with excellent bass and vocals. Motörhead made a great attempt at the song on the ‘what’s Words Worth’ release. Interestingly also live at the Roundhouse. Lemmy – Silver Machine’, was our only hit – and a No. 2 at that! My vocals wound up on the recording, even though Bob sang it at the show. Bob wasn’t on that night and he sounded horrible, so everybody tried overdubbing it later and I was the only one who sang it right. That was really my only time singing lead, except for ‘The Watcher’ on Doremi Fasol Latido, ‘Lost Johnny’ on Hall of the Mountain Grill, and ‘Motorhead’, which was a B-side for the single ‘Kings of Speed’ and later appeared on the re-release of Warrior on the Edge of Time. But I did sing a lot of back-ups”.
