Shall we write a new editorial? Who needs a damn editorial let alone a new one? Who needs Organ for that matter? Brave said yer man. No time for editorials, let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking while we play catch up with it all. Exact same thing as last time once again, another five (or so) slices of music that have passed our way recently cherry picked for your delight and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of pears and here comes the editorial.

Five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying swordfish out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? Was there ever a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Cake oil? Snake oil? Everything must go somewhere and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading. When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing, we never should have done and like we asked last time, does anyone bother reading the editorial? Does anyone ever actually look down the rabbit hole or is it all just method acting? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we do it so you don’t have to, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery. Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, skip this bit, there’s music further down the page, five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? Just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need from us?

Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start with something more from Louis Carnell..

1: Louis Carnell recently released his first new music since 2024’s rather excellent 111 series. torch his emblem, fear obtains laced dreams, is out now via Mute –  “Listen to this deeply personal work, which weaves Carnell’s voice in several forms, with the power and emotion building as his delicate spoken word, rich resonating vocals and a reverberating intonating choir layer” here…

“After the loss of his Mother, Louis Carnell found himself drawn to a time that existed before, as he sought to find resolve, in reconsideration. Finding himself confronted by what it truly means to be alone – an only child without any immediate family – he chose to present his new work using one element, his voice.

Louis Carnell will host several live ‘in hope we must reside’ events. The shows will comprise of a live performance, presented together with photography by Carnell, artwork in collaboration with REMEMBER YOU WERE MADE TO BE USED and a jewellery collection designed with Phi Symbol. The imagery was prompted by an encounter with a white pigeon on the day he heard the news of his Grandmother’s passing. Influenced by his Mum’s love of photography, a series followed, capturing these ‘spiritual embodiments’ – ‘Pigeon Angels’.

A performance, ‘in hope we must reside’ happens on 9th November in London, at Arbutus Street, E8 4DT w/ installation by NA Service. Although where on Arbutus Street we can’t tell you, Allotment maybe?

2: CxBxT – Tujiko Noriko collects shooting stars in a new video for Hoshi O Atsumete by CxBxT. Taken from .After, the album the trio just released on 31.10.25 on Constructive. A video directed by Joji Koyama, starring Tujiko Noriko…

CxBxT is a new collaborative project consisting of Japanese singer, songwriter, and filmmaker Tujiko Noriko, musician and composer Adrian Corker, and percussionist George Barton. Here’s the album via Bandcamp

3: Kronstad 23 – A first taste, well a first taste for us anyway….

“Something is brewing in the state of Norway. Kronstad 23 are the latest trailblazers from northern Scandinavia: a creative force exploring the boundaries of musical genres, including but not limited to: psych rock, jazz, post-rock & scandinavian folk music. The group of young players follows the footsteps of Motorpsycho, Elephant9 & El Paraiso’s own Lotus, Fra Det Onde & Kanaan, carving out their path through the musical landscape in seemingly effortless ways! One minute you’re floating on cosmic Pharoah Sanders waters, the next you’re ascending on electrified if-Tortoise-played-Allman Brothers-style jamming.

The band describes their approach as: “Sommermørket is an escape from inhumane technology and politics in search of something that feels authentic. The music breathes in the little that is left of old air and rises slowly into the hazy summer twilight like brittle thoughts that try to connect and fade away.”

Kronstad 23 was formed in Kronstad, Bergen, Norway in the Autumn of 2023. As old friends and musical collaborators, they rekindled a creative spark that had been dormant for over 10 years. Rarely rehearsed and often caught on first take, Sommermørket was recorded live on tape in the studio of Keyboardist Øyvind Vie Berg in Bergen, Norway. The record captures three sessions across one year, from spring and late summer in 2024 to winter of 2025″.

Kronstad 23 aren’t big on links or information, here’s one for the label. Nice artwork.

4: Michael Rudolph CummingsMoney – From West Chester, Pennsylvania; “Michael Rudolph Cummings is the vocalist/guitarist for the band Backwoods Payback. Cummings’s solo material is equally dark but subdued in volume and temperance, recalling the ditch-trilogy era of Neil Young and the slower moments of Townes Van Zandt”. And yes, that does just about nail it. Well no, of course it doesn’t, you can’t nail something as refined as this with a couple of words or a line or two, let the music do the talking, let these four very fine songs unfold… This is actually Michael Rudolph Cummings’ latest solo release, it dates from this time last year.

Michael Rudolph Cummings is a constantly busy man, Touring the world as the vocalist/guitarist for Backwoods Payback, the drummer of Boozewa and the synth player/vocalist of All Else Failed, “Cummings has been there and done that. All of it. Literally”. He’s just announced some mainland European dates, mostly in France for November. Find the dates and latest news via his Instagram

“I am very excited to be heading back to Europe for a more intimate run of shows this November. After supporting BoySetsFire and Strike Anywhere last year on their European Tour, I have been planning these dates. Can’t wait to play some new songs, some old songs, see some old friends and of course make some new ones along the way…. see you soon!”

5: Shrine Maiden – The second single from Los Angeles, California outfit Shrine Maiden’s new album – A Theory of /Cloud/ an album just released on Whited Sepulchre Records

Ua ‘ike au is a meditative slowburn from the two piece drone-metal band Shrine Maiden that highlights the bands pole-star exploration of light and dark. The track is a duet between Ryan Betschart’s reverb-rich guitar and Rachel Nakawatase’s vocals sung in traditional Hawaiian. The result is a haunting composition that is reflective of the lighter aspects of the duo’s music. Fans of artists like Bell Witch, Emma Ruth Rundle and the avant-folk of Richard Youngs will find a lot in here”. Here’s the whole album via the magic of Bandcamp
