More more more. More albums, shall we dance around it all again, Did we say that last time? And the time before? Where were we? Hey, too many albums not enough time, and (some of) these things do demand proper time and anyway, and, and then, and you do know we only have time for the good ones don’t you? Well most of the time, then again sometimes, well sometimes. And you do know no one reads the editorial bit at the top, well why would they? Here’s some more albums, couple of anarcho punk flavoured things today because….

Icons Of FilthTime of The Signs (Grow Your Own) – None of this is real, none of this is real, none of this is real, Icons of Filth have been keeping it all very very real for more than a decade or two now, they do indeed date back to the the punk rock days of 1979, that’s the real punk rock days, not the Carnaby Street version, we’re talking the proper DIY tape trading, zine powered, soaped-stamp re-used envelope photocopied version of hardcore punk rock, the underground version that didn’t ask anyone for permission. The song very much remains the same here, still very much the thing that much respected frontman Stig (R.I.P) powered for so so long, still the issues the band have focussed on through their lyrics and their fundraising all the way through; animal rights, anarchism, environmentalism, anti-war, vegetarianism, veganism, antiglobalisation, feminism, and the negative effects of organised religion. Still that uncompromising wound up tight thrashing hardcore punk rock sound and why not? This is just what we want the hardcore anarcho punks. Some of it might be stating the bleedin’ obvious, some of it still might be a little naive, a little too black and white, a little more them and us and nothing in between, then again is there anything in between? Icons of Filth doing just what you want Icons of Filth to do and we probably need bands like Icons of Filth more than ever… Bandcamp

Active SlaughterYou Bastards (Grow Your Own) – And while we’re here, while we’re still hanging on here in the madness of it all, there’s also a new slice of album action from Active Slaughter. Now on the surface they are pretty much doing the same thing as those beautiful Icons Of Filth and you might say they’re all the f**king same these bands, each and every one! That’s only if you’re not listening properly though and familiarity can never breed contempt here. Active Slaughter are (probably) pretty much in agreement with everything the Filth are saying, well those Icons of Filth that is, they’re probably not in agreement with what the actual filth have to say, the old bill and Active Slaughter are probably not on the same wavelength! We’re all in this together they yell, they do have their own musical slant on it all though, it is more of a shouty London punk rock ‘ave a butchers fing, a stick it up yer Khyber Pass attitude, there’s more of a street punk slant to their hardcore onslaught, whatever it is, it is as equally beautiful, defiantly so. We need these non-compromising hardcore punk rock things, these things that still thrash along in just the right way. a lot more than just another punk rock statistic, ramming speed as our old friend Paco would growl from behind his kit. Positively violent vegan powered animal liberating, fascist-baiting DIY hardcore punk rock from a band who have been around in one form or another (with the odd hiatus here and there) since the start of this century…
