I guess we just pick up like we nearly did last time and where we left off and who needs who? Still no time for editorials, repeat, replete, reheat, let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing as last time once again, another five (or so) slices of music that have passed our way recently, five slices of music cherry picked for your delight and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of bird seed and yes we did say all this last time (surely no one reads the intro when the music is waiting down there)

Five? I guess we should, another five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying swordfish out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Cake oil? Snake oil? Bake the oil, everything must go somewhere and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading and who reads editorials?

When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing, we never should have done and like we asked last time, who are the cake? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery.

Things you don’t want to read in the e.mail inbox headlines part 97; “Nickelback release emotionally charged new single…” These are the kind of things we put up with every day so you don’t have to….

Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, skip this bit, there’s music further down the page, five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? On these Five Pieces of Music pages you just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need from us on these Five pages we reguarly post?

Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start somewhere in… well… well we could be anywhere

1: Smile – There’s been quite a few bands called Smile since Smile changed their name to Queen. I think we can say, with this latest bite, that this Smile just took proper ownership of the name.

US-German noise-rock band Smile have today announced their new album, Gun-Shy, an album due out on 22nd January 2027 on Siluh Records, they’ve released the lead single and video for Gotta Run. The video is just down there, the single is excellent (which is why you find it here) I’m not ready to think about next year for ages yet…

“Gotta Run is an escape room of urgent, punk, claustrophobic, yet upbeat sounds, held in by fast drums. Smile have a point and won’t stop til you join their side, til you cave in….” Here’s a tree full of links and their Instabloodygram (I really don’t like Instagram much, here’s ours) apprently numbers on Instabloodgram are the only thing that counts…

2: Party Dozen and a document that was captured on Wednesday the 17th of June 2026 in Red Rocks, Colorado (and just shared by the ever glorious Party Dozen). “The concert featured ourselves (Party Dozen), the legendary L7, and the unstoppable Amyl and The Sniffers. What an honour. Big love xx” There is of course loads more Party Dozen on these pages and they do have a new album out very soon, a lot more about that before the week finally ends, here’s a recent piece with more about that album – ORGAN THING: Another slice of the forthcoming album from Sydney experimental psych-noise-pop duo Party Dozen as they announce a London date….

3: Trentemøller and a fine bit of pop art as well as a fine bit of visual pop art, this is parked here as much for the visuals and the sounds. The video is by Dacu.

“Recorded with singer Sune Rose Wagner, Your Love Walks Alone, the third single taken from Trentemøller’s new, untitled album, is a gothy torch song built from layers of industrial-sized fuzz. “A depiction of pure love slowly winding down and how it affects you in those moments where you realise you’re being “replaced,” says Wagner.

Trentemøller traces it back to an earlier collaboration: Ever since Sune sang on my track Deceive, we’d been talking about doing another song together. This time I had an instrumental that felt right for his voice, so I sent it over. He loved it, and pretty quickly came back with that great vocal that’s unmistakably Sune / The Raveonettes. With Your Love Walks Alone I feel like he hit the mood of the music perfectly. What I love is how the vocal melody is kind of ‘happy’ in a way, when the lyrics are actually pretty dark. It makes for a good contrast against the more brooding, insistent sound underneath”.

The new album is set for a November 13th release. here’s a bit more and here’s a bag of links. More on the album later…

4: Deep Purple – yeah, I know, surely not? Hey, they’ve still got plenty of it, their last two albums have been right there in the zone, nail hit firmly on the head, splat as it were. Deep Purple are sounding rather economic these days which you might say is no bad thing. This is the new single, something from their latest album of the same name. More about that album via the link under the video…

ORGAN THING: Deep Purple’s new album Splat! finds the band in a rather good place. Don’t call them precious, priceless is just fine…

ORGAN THING: The evening after the night before, feels like there’s more than just a Swiss casino burning right now, Deep Purple can still cut it though, even in a gawdawful place like London’s soulsucking enermo dome…

ORGAN: Albums, more music – The blistering psychedelic space rock of Lords of Form, Squid Pisser’s extreme glitch, Richard Duguay & The Beautiful Decline, is the new Deep Purple album any good?

5: There was a new Mr. Phylzz album back in September (out on Am Rep), it was and probably is called Fear The Lord, this is a track off it and if only yer man Dan hadn’t had a hissy fit and what’s wordsworth and the price of carrot cake going up and up…

Previously – ORGAN: Albums – Snõõper get super, AmRep’s mr.phylzzz, the Canterbury flavours of New York’s The Filibuster Saloon, Fred Abong’s fine new solo album, the Prog of Dai Kaht and…

Here’s the new album should you care more than yer man does. All about the music and throw your damn egos out the damn window…

here’s some more…

5 and a bit: Demonpussy – and you know none of this is in any kind of order don’t you? Demonpussy probably should be at the top of the page. “Los Angeles metalpunk from the depths of hell” so they say, here’s those oh so vital links and their Bandcamp of course

And while we’re here, Peter Hammill, live, just one month ago. There is of course lots and lots of Peter Hammill on these pages, there’s a link or two underneath the footage…

ORGAN THING: A deep dive into the new Peter Hammill album Tears In Time, into the (rewarding) heavy weather of it all and the time it needs…

ORGAN THING: Peter Hammill, Royal Festival Hall, London, October 2025 – And then he was gone again, just that almost fragile white-clad figure, by himself, heading for the stage door, cheers ringing around the building, people just nodding at each other, no one saying much, silence, just right, everything about it just so right, wow!

Previously..

ORGAN: Five musical things, five insect-like experiments or… The falling into sync of a new Rutger Hoedemaekers album, more Insect Factory, Masayoshi Fujita, more from Yoo Doo Right, Nathaniel Kemeno, Robert Fripp and…

ORGAN: Five Music Things – More from Piss, there can’t be too much, a new USA Nails album announced, Crash of Rhinos, Chastity Belt have a new album on the way, Tom Morello and…

This footage is what first properly really hooked me on Peter Hammill and his band Van Der Graaf Generator properly and yes, we mat have shared this several times before, there can never be too many times…
