I guess we just pick up like we nearly did last time and where we left off and who needs who? Still no time for editorials, repeat, replete, reheat, let the actual music do the actual walking and the actual talking. Exact same thing as last time once again, another five (or so) slices of music that have passed our way recently, five slices of music cherry picked for your delight and however you like to slice it and of course it was the price of bird seed and yes we did say all this last time (surely no one reads the intro when the music is waiting down there)
Five? I guess we should, another five? There’s something rather compelling about five. Cross-pollination? Five more? Is there another way? A better way? A cure for pulling flying swordfish out of the clouds? Is there a rhyme? Is there a reason? What do reasons make? Five more? Cake oil? Snake oil? Bake the oil, everything must go somewhere and no, we never do and the proof of the pudding is in that proof reading and who reads editorials?
When we started this thing, oh never mind, it doesn’t matter why we started this damn thing, we never should have done and like we asked last time, who are the cake? We do really try to listen to everything that comes in, we are very (very) very very picky about what we actually post on these fractured pages or about what gets played on the radio or indeed what we hang in a gallery.
Things you don’t want to read in the e.mail inbox headlines part 97; “Nickelback release emotionally charged new single…” These are the kind of things we put up with every day so you don’t have to….
Cut to the chase, never mind the editorial, skip this bit, there’s music further down the page, five or so pieces of music that have come our way in the last few days and what’s Wordsworth? On these Five Pieces of Music pages you just the basic facts and links and those sounds (and visuals), that’s surely all you need from us on these Five pages we reguarly post?
Here we go, five more slices of music that have recently come our way, this time we start somewhere in Vancouver, British Columbia…
1: Piss: More from Piss, there can’t be too much, this probably one of their most intriguing pieces of music so far, the band have an album out any moment now, I’m saving it for the early hours of the morning when no phones are ringing and no one is pecking, it feels important to wait and experience that first play properly, it can only be done once and I really really like what this band are doing and saying. More information via this Organ piece from a few weeks ago – ORGAN THING: Taking the what? Today, the band known as Piss have just shared their first offering from their new album. She, Taylor Zantingh, has spent nearly all her life learning the right way to scream so people would listen…
2: USA Nails – London’s rather strangely named USA Nails, a band often covered (rather positively) on these pages as well as played at you via our airwaves (and it is a case of playing them at you, this is not polite easy listening, this is nusic that wants to challenge). USA Nails have just announced a new album, an album that is to be co-released by the rather excellent beast of a label that is SKiN GRAFT over there in the USA and on O.L.I over here. Now One Little whatever they’re called these days, even though they’ve had years and years of positive coverage from us, reckon Organ isn’t worth bothering with these days, so we’ll just cover it from SkinGraft‘s point of view. Hey, our ever growning readership is as much based in the US and it is in the UK these days (frankly it leaves a bad taste to even put a link to the Bandcamp that takes you to the One Little Independent page but hey, here it is. I really don’t like the way some people in the music industry take so much for granted, we expect better from some people). The new album isn’t out until January next year, the first taste has started circulating today, USA Nails are sounding as good as ever to us, long live the flux of it all…

3: Crash of Rhinos and a quick bit of footage from earlier this year, shared today because they were just part of the list of first bands and such announced for next year’s ArcTanGent… ORGAN PREVIEW: The first of ArcTanGent’s 2027 bands have been announced including a headline slot for Neurosis, a return for Slift and well, Smote, Sans Froid and a whole load more…
4: Chastity Belt have a new album on the way, November 6th is the date, All My Friends is the name, out on Suicide Squeeze Records, here’s some links, the band from Seattle, Washington are sounding more than beautifully welcome here today in the Autumn light of the first day of October, sounding rather strong, a little more this time. There’s a couple more pieces waiting on their Bandcamp page…
And here’s some more. Have they ever sounded so good?
5: Tom Morello and a slice of his first solo rock record (as he puts it). Links
And the whole thing…

And while we’re here…
Dazed and Confused was written by the folk-rock singer Jake Holmes and released as a track in his debut album The Above Ground Sound Of Jake Holmes in 1967. That same year Jake Holmes opened for The Yardbirds in New York where Jimmy Page heard the song. The song was rearranged and performed by the Yardbirds, they ddin;t really gell Jake this. It later became one of Led Zeppelin best-known songs, the debt to Jake Holmes however went largely unacknowledged by the band until things got a little bit legal somewhere 2012.
