Organ thing of the day? You’ll love this one George said the girl from the record company, no we won’t said I, and who is George anyway? There are no nails in our house, there is no pain in our neck, there is no deck in our cards, do we need a thing today? Things have been busy, things are always busy, things have been extra busy, what with the Play thing in the warehouse and then the Art Car Boot Fair thing and the headpecking things, best is well versed though, everything will be alright and creation join in celebration, happiness and the Band of Holy Joy. First let it be said that there are new things afoot from the Doomed Bird of Providence…. a new five track EP called You Brought The knife that we shall tell you about in a day or so, here’s a taster…
.
And it has to be said, The Band of Holy Joy indeed sounded like holy joy once they started to flow over there in the corner of Brick Lane Car Park at the Art Car Boot Fair last Sunday. We were stuck in our boot so we couldn’t get to see them, we could hear them well enough (the car park wasn’t that big, neither was the stage or the PA set up, this was back to basics, but we could hear them loud and gloriously clear). At some point about half way though their set something special just fell in to place and that slightly different thing they so started to sour above the car boots and the selling of art, ears pricked up, heads turned and yes, they still have that little something different, a band from a land of holy joy and the finding of utopia once again. There’s a power there, a knowing power, an alternative northern soul, a blessed sensuality, beautiful demons that can give such fright, everything felt alright once it all fell in to line and they began to soar in the late afternoon East London sunshine adding extra life to a day already flowing well. Best is indeed well versed and it has to be said, yes, It has to be said that we might just have been guilty of taking The Band of Holy Joy a little too much for granted until they soared through the sky and lifted our ears, had to go dig out The Big Ship Sails as soon as we got home, shusssh, watch out, here comes the Big Ship…. signing on with the big ship… long live the sound of holy joy and never let it be preached against for it is no sin, ask George Best and then grin like alligators (or at least smiles as wide as crocodiles) and join in celebration, happiness and the Band of Holy Joy…
